is allegedly a gracefully ageing rocker whose life was demolished in a freak meditation accident back when he was a computer scientist

but also very definitely a singer-songwriter and t'ai-chi enthusiast based in Glastonbury, UK

My first experience of mispronunciation humiliation was standing up in class at junior school to read something out, and pronouncing "knowledge" as "no ledge" because, well, it's the obvious way to say it, right? I was roundly mocked and have thus been very paranoid about pronunciation ever since.
Thank you to the lovely audience member at @hayfestival who shared that her daughter had once corrected her pronunciation of ‘epiphany’ and told her it should of course be ‘epi-fanny’.

Which word have you royally mispronounced because you’d only ever seen it written down?

Nearly finished Claire North's new one, Slow Gods. Trademark dark humour, barely suppressed rage, a galactic tale of complex politics, conspiracies, conflicts and pronouns, through which our narrator - a uniquely strange hyperspace pilot - is buffeted, largely clueless as to what is really going on.

I have a few codes for promo copies of this, so the first five people who respond and express a desire to hear it are welcome. Shout and I'll follow you back and provide code via 'chat'.
So, after a labourious couple of months of self-recording and mastering, my first novel, BOOK THIRTEEN, is now available in an audio edition via Audible and Apple Books etc.
If anyone wants to invest a monthly credit and give it a star or two, I'd be grateful. Recommended for insomniacs.

Vicambulate [vahy-KAM-byoo-layt]
(v.)
- To take a stroll about town; to saunter leisurely.

Used in a sentence:
“Percival drew himself up, affronted. ‘Aunt Agatha, please. I wasn’t ‘wandering.’ I was vicambulating, which is considerably more dignified, you know.’”

This is a wonderful short listen. In the space of 12 minutes, Rebecca Stott gets into the intuitive spiritual beauty of maths, the shocking nature of quantum physics, and even the wonder of slime molds, all in a disarmingly easy and personal manner. It's a real treat.
