I get wsj thru Apple News- definitely not written by or for anyone in healthcare, but does highlight many real issues with with provider shortages leading to inappropriate prescribing then polypharmacy to deal with side effects rather than optimal treatment etc

Trump is 30 points underwater. Dems swept the special elections. People know the GOP is responsible for the shutdown. So the Dem Senators pulled out their big guns... and shot themselves in the foot.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

Are those 8 really so naive to think Thune made an offer w/o his fingers crossed behind his back? What’s the plan if he doesn’t bring it up in a month and more importantly how do you get 60 standalone votes?!?! SMH primary them all

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

Finally a major network with a headline telling it like it is. They all should try it more.

Trump: Gonna release a swarm of locusts
District court: no you’re not. Would hurt people
Appeals court: Correct. Locust killer’s in that aisle there.
SCOTUS: Sure you can. Enjoy watching your swarm! We’ll consider it after they’ve eaten everything.

Probably.

Random pharmacist perk: occasionally finding out nursing colleagues are pregnant at “don’t say a fucking word” weeks because they have personal med questions (and learning they trust you with both!) ☺️

Read that again.

Ya know, Tesla shareholders could have spent a couple billion reinvesting in the company, or making some charity donations, hell even building & naming Tesla Stadium and still giving their boss more than he deserves. But no, he gets a trillion as though he doesn’t already have enough.
