When it's not going well for me, I feel like I'm trying to write using random word fridge-magnets that keep slipping about 😂

I feel like today's EMDR shifted something huge. Sweet treat acquired and I'm now having a quietly hopeful afternoon with a spooky book 😊📚

Accurate. Also a very difficult book to put into words for review!

This is one of the MOST effective forms of book marketing and one where a lot of midlist trad authors have their hands tied, since we don't control how many ARCs we get or who they go to.

If trad wants midlist to do better, give us ARCs and get them into the right hands!

by far the most effective marketing and publicity effort by my publisher was getting advance copies into the hands of the right early readers

While the question of genre sometimes stymies, or even annoys, some authors, in talking with me about her new novel The Graceview Patient," Caitlin Starling provided a workaround by creating her own for this book: "hospital Gothic."

Himself has been a hero and is making a lovely dinner now. Hoping for brightness to break through the clouds.

The vampires in my series are diverse. We start off with elegant, aristocratic Blood Mages, but that's only the veneer. Slowly, we unveil the rot underneath, the hunger that turns man into beast as vampires are born, and we don't stop there.

Interested? The story starts in MISTRESS OF LIES.
Cover for Mistress of Lies by K. M. Enright, The Sunday Times bestseller. Black cover, with a scowling long-haired woman in a Gothic style red and gold headdress and brocade sleeves like wings against a background of red and white roses. Her hands are tipped in gold claws and she holds a long dagger. Blurbs from Melissa Caruso — “Dark, dangerous, and entrancing” — and Sara Hashem — “A decadent story that won’t let you go.”

I've just had a quick rummage... and can say with my whole chest, NOT ENOUGH. ie a quick roam through my recent reads had not a one.

Finally @kmenright.bsky.social's 'Mistress of Lies' came up with the goods! Then @stgibson.bsky.social's 'A Dowry of Blood' 😊❤️

Very bad CPTSD/depression day. Many tears and retreating under the duvet for my own safety. No work was done as I worked on surviving (IYKYK).

This is what my mental health days can look like.

(Btw I apparently don't qualify for any benefits at all, nor sick pay as I have to be self-employed)

Morgan clearly has no argument because he just starts shouting. Appalling interviewer (and human).
