Because of streaming and the studios merging, they may actually need the money. Streaming doesn't pay as much to begin with, there's little to no residuals with it, and there's no DVD money to be made after the fact. They need the money. Also, studios aren't taking on as many projects, etc, etc.
I've been noticing an uptick in celebrities taking random payday gigs doing commercials for the sorts of things that, a few years ago, they only would've done for a Super Bowl ad.
My theory has been a lot of financial advisors are telling them to get paid now before the big collapse.
