“If the Liz Truss Show is the “home of the counter-revolution” then the British establishment can rest easy. Truss’s opening monologue is delivered with all the verve and passion of a minimum wage hotel worker explaining at check-in where breakfast is served and how to find the elevators.”
Why are we funding pathetic, vengeful Liz Truss to lie about Britain?

i'm glad that stem colleagues now care that university administrators' claims of departmental "profitability" are all bullshit now that it's coming for them but a little solidarity while the humanities endured this for decades would've been cool

How she still has a job is beyond me. If it isn't pressure from Robbie Gibb, whoever her line manager is should be sacked for not already having pulled the trigger.
What if one were a BBC executive and 'Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg' had:

- a 25% decline in audience to under 1.5milion (inc. online)
- highest reach among viewers over 55
- skew towards white managerial/professional (ABC1) viewers

Feels like the show's own time bomb has already gone off.

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

Blue Labour are despicable.

They are also deeply stupid & have all the political nous of Liz Truss.

This will win over zero Reform voters and push people to either stay at home or vote Green or Lib Dem.

The local elections will be a blood bath for Labour, but they'll continue piling on the hate.
my great-grandparents arrived in the UK in the 1890s with nothing.
they sold pickles from the front room window, took in laundry, worked as tailors.
their children were nurses, teachers, salesmen.
their grandchildren were professors, designers, opticians, doctors, magistrates, entrepreneurs.
This is so disgusting.

I once did a deeply puerile thing and rang the Home Office to ask for comment on the growing campaign to abolish the Home Office, which was basically "one think tank paper and some posts". The note of genuine panic in the flack's voice is something I cherish to this day. See how you fucking like it.
This is so disgusting.

When Falkner joined the EHRC she talked a lot about ‘evidence’ and ‘balance’ and it soon became abundantly clear that what she meant was that she didn’t like the existing, well-researched and established positions of the Commission, and needed a pretext for reversing those at the top of her list.
Kishwer Falkner in The Times talking about the rights of "biological people". As compared to trans people, who are, of course, non-biological.

This sounds extremely plausible.

Cuts to rerun of Battlestar Galactica: so why exactly did you think it was a good idea to make the robots that wiped out most of humanity?

Tech bro: it was like I had to pay the servants, so I thought I'd make robots instead.
Impossible to understand the tech leader zeal for humanoid robots unless you realize their homes are filled with human staff whose presence makes them, in a basic way, uncomfortable. They want servants without the trace of subjectivity.

Blue Labour: never ignores an opportunity to punch down; if it's a choice between being an arsehole or respecting the rights of people the right wing press hates, they will always choose being an arsehole.
We're going to look back on this period of Labour government in the same way we view Thatcher's Tory period of Section 28 bigotry.
Starmer and his cabinet absolutely own the current trans-hostile nature of the now-ironically named Equality and Human Rights Council.
