Also a fucked up about getting diagnosed as an adult: You yourself don't know some things are not normal because you expierence it all your life and this definately affects filling out the interview papers.

My mom who I have never seen leaving the house not in a hurry because she is too late even when all the clocks are made to be ahead of time for five minutes on purpose and who also only did tasks at the very last second said I don't have adhd because "I'm like that, too"

It's a great cosmic joke that neurodivergence both runs in families and gets diagnosed based on parent reports. I was diagnosed at 30 because a man who has eaten potatoes every day for 57 years and a woman who collects loose buttons decided I was a perfectly normal child.
