Mood as we wrap up 2024.

One of the most infuriating parts of being a public defender is working with people who absolutely refuse to admit when they’re wrong, and no, I’m not talking about my clients.

This is so funny to me given how regularly I'm in a small space armed with nothing more than a legal pad, pen, and a wicked sense of humor for hours on end with guys who've allegedly killed people 🤷🏼‍♀️

just blurted out in class "yes, you have to cite where you got your info. in a world in which lying loudly is the only thing that seems to get rewarded, citing your sources is an act of resistance" and folks, I really believe that.

Today was pretty terrible. The system is pretty terrible. Fuck the system. Systems. All of them.

This obsession we as a society have with making sure poor people suffer is so gross. Eyeing SNAP recipients’ grocery carts to make sure there are no “luxury” items. Making it illegal to be unhoused. Now denying fucking anesthesia. I promise you, poor people are already suffering quite enough.
