This, for the love of all that is holy

Compliant and credulous media will be the death of the republic
There's no rule of journalism that says you have to show a president telling lie after lie – uncorrected – many times a day. That's a decision that corporate media are making for purposes other than delivering the truth to the public.

related to this a lot of people in the pundit class need to learn how to just be annoyed by someone or something without turning it into What’s Wrong With America
i am fascinated by how nate silver turns everything he doesn’t like into a bespoke ideology. it’s not that he is annoyed by HCR, it is that she is a dreaded “ism” responsible for everything he doesn’t like about the democratic party. same with bluesky.

I like this case, because it's important to remember that in many ways, what Trump is doing is a coup against lawful government. It's an assertion of the right to engage in lawless, criminal acts, and this case is the actual US government legal system pushing back against that.
Counterpoint: At least for this one case, what remains of the US Government has defeated the doddering wannabe dictator attempting to destroy it

This is incorrect just looking at current polling. People hate what Trump is doing on immigration. Lots of people think it’s brutal and immoral.

Unless you’re just an empty, amoral, poll-chasing shell, you can run against that and win.
I’m glad he won in court, but I stand by my view that immigration is Trump’s best issue and at the margin high-profile immigration fights make it easier for Trump to hold the senate and continue MAGAfying the judiciary.

They’re not centrists. That’s a lazy, inaccurate descriptor. They’re still very conservative. Or crazy. His next post highlights Jim Jordan saying subsidies need to be extended. Jordan is no gd centrist.

These R’s are responding to electoral pressure.
A strange thing going on in the ACA space: There's a group of ~15 centrist House Republicans with some interest in extending the expiring funds. But even they can't agree on a bill to coalesce around, or whether to sign a discharge petition to force it. www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...

The House will vote on a health care plan before the end of the year. But a growing number of Republicans worry their party will pay the price for rising insurance premiums.

Democrats would be crazy not to make this comment super-famous tomorrow when the Senate debates health care. Republicans don’t want you to be cared for as a patient when you’re sick. They think of you as a “consumer”—and tough luck if you don’t have the money for the care you need.
Roger Marshall: "We want patients to become consumers again. We want patients to see what the actual prices are. We believe that if we would add the price tags to this bill, that it would save the country a trillion dollars a year."

The racists see low test scores and conclude, “inferior specimen, remove.”

The reality is test scores are low *because of racism, most directly refusal to fund education properly for low income and migrant communities.

Rich schools aren’t the top scorers by accident. Or by genetics.
