VERY interesting. This 1963 report prepared for the Pentagon says that speeches by national leaders had in fact been recorded for Conelrad. First confirmation I'd ever seen in writing. It suggests something beyond known materials for Operation Alerts.
End game on govt shutdown and Epstein coming soon. The House will have to come back into session. The original stopgap funding bill only ran until Nov 21. Any new deal would likely need to run until after New Year. Hard to see how Epstein vote could be dodged.

As shutdown becomes 2nd longest ever, Johnson hints at changes to GOP's strategy
Speaker Johnson was pressed on Texas Republican Rep. Beth Van Duyne’s remarks reportedly requesting that the House return to the Capitol.

Premier Trump of the USSR today announced the Five Year Plan for State Owned Industries. His Excellency is confident that tariffs on Brazilian beef can be offset by Argentine beef imports and by sending American cattlemen to gulags. He hopes 'gulags won't be necessary.'

See The Case Against Conelrad. Notwithstanding any contrary FCC rules for EAS, Potus can make an address and thereafter suspend all normal programming. Been that way since 1934. FCC rules merely execute presidential policy, which Potus can change (47 USC 606).

Plans for an Emergency Broadcast System started with 1960 Conelrad rules. Conelrad became primarily a presidential system. 1962 Missile Crisis accelerated this. It seems Conelrad lingered past its prime due to USAF wants for the system.

Tonight in 1962, President John F. Kennedy somberly and resolutely addressed the nation and the world from the Oval Office for 17 minutes regarding the escalating crisis over the Soviet Union’s recently discovered and ongoing attempt to secretly deploy intermediate-range nuclear missiles in Cuba.
Johnson will lose. He's got a 1995 Scotus case against him (I posted it today). Qualification of Members Clause says there is no legit reason to deny her a seat. He has literally no choice in the matter.

Breaking: Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes has just filed a lawsuit to try to force Mike Johnson to swear in Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva.
There are many doomsday scenarios with Trump as wanna be king for life. ALL end in collapse of US govt. It becomes a permanent shutdown. Trump has zero signatory power after Jan 20, 2029. Every Trump military order becomes illegal as we know the term.

Assuming we even pretend to follow the Constitution at that point. Congress can't Present bills to Trump under the Presentment Clause, because he's not a valid Potus. His signature means nothing. Govt stays permanently shut until there's a legit new Potus.

Here's the thing. On Jan 20, Trump ceases to be a lawful president. Nothing he signs has any validity. He cannot legally sign any bills. At which point, our federal credit rating gets crushed and America enters it's worst depression yet. Permanent credit downgrade.

I’m less concerned about part of the White House being torn down, and more concerned about the fact that it’s being replaced with a $250m privately funded ballroom. I don’t think people who intend to leave office in 3 years typically spend a quarter of a billon on a 4 year construction project.
Until House members are 'duly elected' then sworn in early January, they cannot choose a Speaker. So if court fights drag on for months, choosing a new president or Speaker in 2027 and 2029 becomes problematic. Trump corruptly interfering in elections makes it a problem.
Whether Trump can 'steal' a federal election depends upon what "elected" means. Trump lied and said he was "elected" in 2020. Congress didn't agree. What happens if 50 House Members claim they're "elected" during a "corrupt" 2026 or 2028?

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

If there's a 'deal,' House will need to vote. But first, there'll be the pending Epstein discharge petition. If Senate approves House-passed deal from Sept, House can stay out of session. All other scenarios end in forever shutdown OR forever no Epstein files. Somebody gotta blink pretty soon.
The law says Trump's term expires Jan 2029. If he can get past that law, then there is no law. There's no USA. There's a piece of land that used to be under a rule of law but no longer is. And a massive crash in financial markets upon realization thereof.

You really don't tear a hole in the side of the White House to build a monstrous entertaining space unless you think it's yours until you die
Last page is code names of all presidential successors under Nixon. Agnew, Carl Albert, Sen Eastland, Sec State William Rogers, in that order.

It's interesting but not how it works. If Trump, Vance, Senator Grassley (Pro Tem) and Johnson all got hit by a nuke Nov 1, 2028...your president could be Marco Rubio. Cabinet officers have no fixed term. US Senate has no fixed term of office.

Based on White House quotes, looks to me like Trump is planning a nasty blackmail stunt to try and force Dems to agree to a shutdown. But any such deal makes release of Epstein files and House in session likely as well. Only way to delay files is if Senate Dems cave. Cave= no deal, just surrender.
If you feel you must have a bunker, don't do it underground. Make it a concrete box covered in dirt. Proven design. Entry at ground level. Not underground. If you're 10 miles from nuclear targets, that's ample blast and fallout protection.
Well, yes. But Trump can't force local officials to put these people on trial in state courts if they don't wan't to do that. Which means DOJ has to find a federal offense of some kind or turn them loose. And...there often isn't any...because there's no true rioting.

He’s already deploying military forces in US cities, claiming it’s for domestic law enforcement, which is what invoking the Insurrection Act enables.
If you want to fix the housing market, you need to let people remote work from areas with cheap housing. If a job can be done remotely by a stay home white collar mom, make it law. Or forget about 20somethings buying homes and having kids. They cannot afford it.

bsky.app/profile/cono...
The 3 bursts of home price growth in the past 30 years:

1999-2005: good affordability, big rate cuts, super loose underwriting/high leverage
2012-2018: good affordability, ZIRP, solid job growth
2020-21: ZIRP, stimmy, 10%+ NGDP growth, low inventory

We have none of that now.
Anyway. We're trying to make the 1960 Ike memo discussing nuclear war scripts fit coherently with what Gup said, what this doc says and what we know as fact that Gup didn't say. We know EBS audio tapes exist. He didn't. That, I cannot explain. No living witness seems to know anything firm. #AG
The only way this story holds water is if Godfrey continued to have a role in Conelrad and EBS after 1960. What doesn't make sense is why Time couldn't find out that an AG tape got replaced with EBS tapes under Nixon.
