We are so sad to hear that Dave Ball, the keyboard genius of Soft Cell, has died. He was an electronic pop pioneer and with Marc Almond made a unique catalogue of songs, completely original in sound and content. Our love and condolences go to Marc and all those close to Dave. Neil and Chris xx

Sadly, there's a lot to be said for Marina Hyde's analysis here. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
He's part of the same class.
Hope this is true.
Years ago while working behind the bar at Glasto, I served a very drunk celebrity. He couldn't find his wallet so he gave me his Rolex. Weeks later he wrote to the brewery demanding we return his watch. Management investigated but no one knew who he'd given it to. I still have it

There are less than 200 constituencies across the entire UK in which the right cannot win. The only way to beat them is to vote tactically. In most parts of England, if you do not vote for your sitting Labour MP you will be making it easier for Reform to take power. That's just a simple fact.

The salmon population of the Wye is in collapse, and Atlantic salmon are now endangered in the UK. Those bringing the court case argue the needs of intensive farming cannot be permitted to outweigh the needs of fish, wildlife + river users.

Jubb describes the decline of the river really got going from 2016 onwards, when licenses for intensive chicken farms began to be granted in numbers not seen before - leading to a burden of phosphate + nitrate more than the river can process:

We spoke to Nathan Jubb, a fly fishing guide who's fished the Wye for 45 years. He describes the change he's seen in the river + the impact on fish:

Wonder if his publishers will try and reclaim the advance? Although one assumes an even vaguely competent editor would have noticed...

Very few printers print the actual white as an ink. The white parts of the TIFF would be transparent if printed on glass/perspex/acetate.

You’d think Farage believes Brexit is the best thing to happen to Britain. But the Kremlin r🐀t’s Freudian slip showed his real preferences - the first country that came to his mind as benefiting from Brexit was Russia.

Popping into #portfolioday on behalf of art directors to say thank you for sharing your work. It makes our job easier. We appreciate you.

Also, FWIW, I made a starter pack of hiring art-, creative-, design-directors who actively use Bluesky.

Brexit was a really crap idea. And one of the many reasons why it was so crap is that it will take decades to undo. If you don't accept that, I'm afraid you do not live in the real world.
Would you recommend getting a pressure cooker Hass? Love my slow cooker (and occasional sous-videing).
Would be happy with single market/EEA/customs union type arrangement. I realise it would just be better to be members, but doesn't seem likely in my lifetime.

This deserves more attention than it has received.

Gove: "we were too anxious as a government to secure those deals in order to show that Brexit was working".

Exactly as so many of us warned at the time, and as the government denied at the time.

Michael Gove admits that post-Brexit trade deals were bad for farmers
Michael Gove has admitted for the first time that the Australia and New Zealand trade deals negotiated by the former Tory government did not protect Britain’s farmers.

This is how a split vote on the centre and left allows Reform to win in hundreds of parliamentary constituencies next time around. The day after the GE in 2029, a lot of very surprising - and surprised - parts of the country are going to wake up with Reform MPs.
Lloyds & Corby Village (North Northamptonshire) Council By-Election Result:

➡️ RFM: 38.5% (+2.1)
🌹 LAB: 32.4% (-11.8)
🌍 GRN: 18.9% (+9.7)
🔶 LDM: 5.8% (+1.5)
🌳 CON: 4.4% (-1.5)

Reform HOLD.
Changes w/ 2025.
