I looked up how much New Yorkers pay in taxes to the federal government, which now wants to withhold federal funding:

For every tax dollar paid to Washington, our State received $1.06 in return, compared to the average for all states of $1.32. This is the fourth year in a row that New York has had a positive balance of payments, largely due to extraordinary federal pandemic aid. Previously, New York ranked among states with the largest negative balance of payments.
