1930s Germany: Shattering defeat in WWI, ruinous financial reparations and loss of territory imposed at Treaty of Versailles, hyperinflation, Great Depression, mass unemployment, economic and political collapse of Weimar Republic

Idly following your curiosity in a world designed to take advantage of it will keep you from finding the things you truly love.

Schopenhauer, 1851:
It's remarkable that someone so lazy *and* charmless could become the leader of even the current Tory party.

As dire as recent Tory leaders have been, you could just about see how they got there, even if Truss was a considerable stretch.

Also amplifying resentment that we're a 'soft touch'. Fuck off Labour, you craven fannies.
Why is a Labour Home Secretary perpetuating this myth in The Sun?

Asylum applications in the UK are significantly below the average for all European countries. The only person helped by spreading this falsehood is Nigel Farage
Has strong and instant views on Israeli football hooligans too.
His background as a lawyer, having to make the case for whichever side he finds himself presenting, feels relevant.

But how is he so bad at that too? Was he a really crap lawyer?
Barely. As per usual, rather too little, rather too late.

The statement is from the Labour Party in the person of Anna Turley and *not* the Labour Government in the person of the actual PM, Keir Starmer, who doesn't yet know what he thinks, as not heard back from the Red Wall focus group.
As observe elsewhere, this is the Labour Party in the person of Anna Turley and *not* the Labour Government in the person of Keir Starmer, who doesn't yet know what he thinks, as not heard back from the Red Wall focus group.
Come on, be fair, they haven't yet had time to focus group how they're supposed to feel about it.

I feel like somewhere in a strategy meeting on this some adviser must have said "okay guys we're using black and pink beads - but we have to make the black beads the ones we keep, and the pink ones the ones we remove for optics - ok?"
No blame attaching to the relentlessly competent, principled and consistent Sir Kid Starver, of course.

anyway, some actually useful tips to mitigate any loss: make sure your notifications don't show their content on the lock screen - set them so you have to unlock the phone to see them. Make sure you've got theft detection turned on, which locks the phone if it's snatched.
Who wants to be Sajid Javid?
He must surely have realised by now that he's not up to the job, mustn't he?
