In case some of you have forgotten… or maybe never knew… I used to make pictures like this for a living… This was back in 2012, on a Friday afternoon in the Olympic Stadium, Munich… A place remembered by me for “that” World Cup Final… was a treat to visit the place…
So… yes… it was a total non story… why then was it first spread and the flames fanned..?
I often wonder if folk have the right licences… TV etc… Not… maybe they got an unpaid parking ticket..? …

What a joke this country is to moralise over this… There’s nothing there…

let they without sin cast the first stone… as they say…

It’s the old “garbage in = garbage out” thing… if there wasn’t the complete rubbish out there it’d not get scraped & added into the overall result… In face-to-face meeting, people who use AI to “advise” are generally not good at being cross questioned… AI is not I anyway. It’s just
supercomputing.
People in the vehicle behind you at a junction who honk their horns at you because you didn’t go for the micro minuscule do-or-die gap between juggernauts that they think you should have risked your life to go for so as to stop holding them up just one second longer… (Just makes me dawdle more, TBH)

Amazon just announced 14,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $40M last year.

UPS announced 48,000 layoffs. Its CEO made over $24M last year.

Intel announced 20,000 layoffs. Its new CEO's pay package is valued at nearly $69M.

This is what I mean when I say the system is rigged.
AI is heading for the buffers…

I’ve tested some AI on my specialist field… First time I review a tech doc that has been obviously “assisted” by AI is going to be fun… let alone when we get into Court in a Civil Procedure when something has gone wrong because of AI advice being, err, wrong…
Despite the headline it’s not George RR Martin personally going for them cos he’s rich and famous. It’s all of us.

The test case used his work, but it’s about the plain-as-day issue that ANY generative AI ignores and infringes copyright, by passing off.

That’s a win for basic law.
Judge rules George R.R. Martin and other authors can sue OpenAI for copyright infringement

• Said ChatGPT generated 'Game of Thrones' content similar enough to infringe copyright

• OpenAI’s motion to dismiss was denied

Mr. Creed told me what great faction there is at Court; and above all, what is whispered, that young Crofts is lawful son to the King, the King being married to his mother. How true this is, God knows; but I believe the Duke of York will not be fooled in this of three crowns.

🔥🔥🔥 Here's Emily Maitlis crucifying Farage for both breaking the UK and stabbing it in the back.

This would be due to the increase in numbers post Brexit, right..?? After we lost access to the EU agreements on return of Asylum seekers then we became a nett recipient (as I understand it)

We need a full, independent investigation into Teesworks.

My column for North East Bylines is here - northeastbylines.co.uk/region/teess...
Good summary as far as I can see… Appreciate some will disagree…

Like PPE etc, the problem, more widely, seems to be who looks over those spending public (our) money and how effectively is that spending being regulated/controlled…?

Devolvement is not deregulation.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

As for imperial/metric, you’re right… buy petrol in litres… measure its consumption in mpg… easy, right… 🤪
I think in the shaft there, I6F was ~450 metres… but the workings will have gone deeper down dip, no doubt… they took deeper seams there, also… some of the old imperial units were great… chains… for instance… the old maps and plans were in imperial with newer ones in metric… you had to be bi-unit
Randomly reminded of this series and how they got many period details down nicely yet the telephones in the UK had an american ring, rather than the distinctive “ring ring” that would be correct… i thought it totally weird that you’d use period cars yet get this wrong.

Good article here… I certainly have no idea what this gov is seeking to accomplish… short or long term… it has no character, sense of purpose, direction… no clear intention… it’s like we are stuck in the ultimate micro-managed quagmire…
My column in the @ftweekend.com: Keir Starmer is in trouble because he has not been serious about governing, and the best way for him to turn things around is for him to become serious:
Starmer needs to get serious about governing — and quick
The prime minister has to change or his party will seek a change of its own

Just to say… As a Coal Mining Geologist who spent close to 30 years in and around the Lancs coalfield, “800 yards down at Ince Six Feet” resonates… Ince 6 Feet being one of the last seams worked at Parkside, which was the last pit in Lancs… as I am sure you know already @warringtonruncorn.com
Agreed. It’ll be on my rotation for a while now. 🙂
