I've started to read fiction again, after a hiatus of several years. It hasn't taken me long to conclude that at my age, life is just too short for badly-written, ineptly edited police procedurals. In my earlier days, I rarely gave up on a book I'd started, but I've abandoned 3 in the last 2 days!

When half the internet doesn't work because of a failure of a single vendor, that vendor is a utility, in the same way that power, water, and, back in the day, the phone companies, are/were utilities.

Meringue and the stray we been feeding for over a month now. We named the cat Pigeon! Don’t know if it’s a boy or girl as Pigeon is very very shy and always runs away when we open our door, but will sleep in the heated KH house we got specifically for the poor thing

For the past six months I’ve had a tambourine in the boot of my car that jingles every time I go over a speed bump, and I think this is the kind of everyday whimsy we all need more of in 2025.
