Entertaining as this spat is, it contains not-a-flicker of recognition as to WHY this might be happening.

For 16 months, a tax-exile-oligarch-owned, mostly right-wing press, has abused the privilege of these exclusive private sessions, to misrepresent the gov't on every issue. This is the FO stage.

President Zelenskyy: "Putin publicly lied claiming that Russian forces had already taken the city. So, I went to Kupiansk myself to show the world, Putin is lying.

We must keep exposing every single Russian falsehood because truth restores justice."

I've just told the boiler service man that we can’t pay him for repairing our boiler and that he should do it purely for the exposure since that’s just the way things work nowadays.

Insta offered me 2 videos this morning, both called "None of this is normal". In one, a lady expresses her frustration & incredulity at this time, in the 2nd, a neuroscientist offers an explanation & way forward. It was incredibly reassuring. I just love science, don't you?

I mentioned briefly that chat bots are good at changing political opinions...

Following the controversy over the edited Trump speech, the BBC has been lambasted for its negative and biased portrayal of the leader of a prominent right-wing government…

We all moan about the BBC, but secretly, some of us like it as much as the NHS.

Turns out AI chat bots are good at getting people to change who they would vote for.

The Home Office can get screwed

Talk to my mum’s Nigerian carers about the promises they were given, the tax/NI/Council Tax they pay & how they now feel about their life here
Home Office Ministers state publicly, on the record, that they are deliberately making life worse for older people and people with disabilities who depend on care services, but it's worth it because it reduces net migration.

It’s time to chainsaw the Brexit red tape and end the cost of living crisis. Labour MPs should back our plan for a new customs union.

We've received a Reform mailing about next year's London Mayor election. No mention of who their candidate is, just Farage.

What do you reckon, a 'subject access request' and 'return to sender'?

It's a mark of our moral disintegration that there's even a discussion about Ukraine giving up land. To even countenance it is to reward colonialism.

Thought I'd try a little thread about getting ill and all those glorious benefits, worth £20k, we all get.
Now I've never done this or said much about what's up with me but why not, sure it'll make no difference to some but it might others. 1/n

This is interesting (and I found free to read).

Very surprised to see "...the average Briton is taxed less than the average American."
"so deep was the fiscal crisis that public spending was cut and taxes on the rich went up. The result is that Britain’s top 10 per cent is the only segment paying more in taxes today than in 2010" on.ft.com/4a6clNL

if this were more widely understood, Reeves' job would be somewhat easier
Britain’s tax system combines the worst of the US and Scandinavia
The UK’s experiment in eating the rich while shrinking the state has left everyone worse off

The body of information on inequality is growing 👇. The British economy is stagnant, peoples' wages are not keeping pace with inflation and foreign capital is taking even more out of our economy. We need a new social contract & to return to the EU.

This is immensely personal and the current government can go jump.
