Somehow, despite all the competition, SPVM remains the worst police force in Canada.
Shooting dozens of rounds of tear gas and using pepper spray and their batons, the SPVM violently pushed back more than a thousand people who showed up this afternoon to send a message to GardaWorld over their contracts with ICE at their offices and training center in Ville Saint-Laurent. (thread)

I've known my best friend since we were both 3. Now we're 40.
watching John Green talk about his buddy from high school who is still his friend and I’m curious, is that common for people on here?

Very interesting decision from the Supreme Court of Canada today. The majority goes out of its way to expressly reject US-style originalism in the interpretation of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Support every trans, non-binary or questioning person you know. Speak out for those you don’t. Vote for politicians who want to expand humanity, not shrink it. And for god’s sake, stop buying Harry Potter or the works of those who want to ruin the lives of our loved ones out of their own ignorance.

Fellow lawyers will recognize a court that is PISSED here. Divisional Court doesn't call decisions it is reviewing "nothing short of shocking" very often.

"And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned 'round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat?"

James Pasternak wants to cut down the Charter to go after people he disfavours, but he wouldn't like where that would lead.
Pasternak thanks the police for their "great work" then asks about protests in the city, which have cost the cops $44 million in recent years. "This doesn't sound like peaceful assembly," says Pasternak. "Can we keep hiding behind the charter while this is going on on our streets?"

I don't even know how to process people not understanding that potato chips are made of potatoes. What do they think they are made of?
Some context from that Lays ad.

People are very stupid and don’t realize that potato chips are literally made out of potatoes.

That’s why they were parading around a potato in that ad like it’s the fucking Rosetta Stone.

CBC saying Bad Bunny's performance wasn't overtly political. What? Whoever reported that needs to 1) talk to someone who speaks Spanish and 2) learn to read an artistic performance beyond just words spoken.

Disappointed to learn Bad Bunny wore Zara, effectively promoting the brand to millions. Although Zara has made admirable strides to address labor conditions, fast fashion can never be ethical because it depends on rapid production and cheap prices, which results in worker exploitation.
