Over on the local gaming collective discord, Public Access is described as: "For anyone not familiar, that's 'what if Brindlewood but creepypasta instead.'"

"The final home was razed in 1968."

What are we celebrating again?

Heading to Burlington, VT, this weekend. Will try to get a good picture of the historic marker that commemorates the removal of the filthy Italians from the city.

Go read the alt text. It is WILD.
A green historic marker in Burlington, VT. It reads "LITTLE ITALY. Beginning in the early 1900s the area directly to the east housed numerous emigrants. Many moved here from Italy with hopes to build better lives. Some worked in the lumber mills and railroad yards that bordered the lake. In the process, they created a community of over 140 homes, lush gardens, thriving businesses, community social centers, and Catholic schools and churches. In the 1960s this area became the center of Vermont's largest urban renewal project. The final hone was razed in 1968. Displaced families were scattered into the outskirts of Burlington. In place of this one vibrant family neighborhood stands a dynamic downtown district, internationally known as a social and economic center of Vermont."

If you are keeping score at home, the plan is still on track.

✅ Expanse(ish) romp
✅ The Between (just started)
🔳 The Between: Court of Wolves
🔳 Rise of the Quiet (Fate)
🔳 Low Earth Orbit (Apocalypse World)
denagh.bsky.social
Updating that list:

If I could plan the group's rpg adventures, we'd finish our Expanse(ish) romp, do The Between, Fate of Cthulhu's Rise of the Quiet, hop back to The Between for the Sun King, Delta Green now geez, then maybe either Triangle Agency or Low Earth Orbit Apocalypse World.

Still kills me that the spotlights didn't get released wildly and I'll probably never get to play in a campaign of this.

Looking over the Cortex Spotlights and man, I still want to play in a Snowfall Initiative campaign.

In trending video news, it's Erica!
A screenshot of a "trending videos" section on bsky where two videos of US government officials flank Erica Cherry as she strokes her cock.

For me, it's the fries. Shake Shack's crinkle cut fries seem like they are the store brand fries from the freezer section of a local grocery store. Serviceable, but not up to what I think fries from a place I'm going out to should be.

* The what was planned as the penultimate conflict was stressful enough for the players, honestly. Plus it stopped the antagonist's plans. No need to chase after them and punch them in the nose.
denagh.bsky.social
We actually did "ten years later" and the players had total freedom about where their characters wound up and how the massive effects of the campaign played out over the decade.

A nice satisfying conclusion for our game, even if we didn't have things like a final* epic conflict.
denagh.bsky.social
So we're just going to start the game session with a "two years later" scene so the players can get closure on their characters and then we move on to the next game.
denagh.bsky.social
In that game system, characters should improve, but at a much slower pace. Near the end, they were running out of things to spend XP on.
denagh.bsky.social
I'd recommend making the XP cost for improvements be 10xp instead of 5. Or structuring the XP tally point to be when milestones are met, not at the end of the session.
denagh.bsky.social
(This is something I noticed in the Genesys system as well.)

Roughly three weeks went by in game and they went from basic characters to overly-powered ones. They all wound up with 5-7 talents. The two things their characters specialize in? Rolling 9 or 10 dice.
denagh.bsky.social
As an aside, we ran the last 2/3rds of the game using the Alien RPG and I have to say I love that system for one-shots, but cannot recommend it for an extended campaign.

I think it mostly comes down to the XP system. The way it works is XP advancements run too quickly.

We're moving on from our future sf game tomorrow. We hit a strange endpoint, where it seems our protagonists hit an endpoint, but didn't resolve the big crisis. Like, yes, the antagonist got away with the
MacGuffin, but do we really need to stop him?

Our game is currently on hiatus. The two younger investigators are currently in college.

It's a good excuse in my book.

Just shared that The Tall Man clip with the family game group. Yep.

The government is in full shutdown and the Republicans are refusing to call the House back into session.

Want to know why?

Because we have secured the final vote on releasing the Epstein Files and they don’t want it out.

Call GOP and tell them to swear in @adelitaforcongress.bsky.social.

Games Workshop should let me write a Warhammer 40k novel.

One of the things my player's has found in an apartment is a pristine, almost new typewriter they realized was from Germany, circa 1941, because shift-4 isn't $, it's the SS logo.

It was inspired by Brenda Romero's Train, which has the typed rules set up in a similar typewriter.
