This week in 1988: 1,000+ ACT UP demonstrators shut down the FDA headquarters, demanding (and eventually winning) action on developing HIV/AIDS treatments. ACT UP's militant and creative actions always included powerful visual artwork, and paved the way for movements in the decades to come.

If you haven’t seen it, this footage from @apnews.com is incredibly important.

The intent here seems unmistakable, in two ways: (1) just read the genocide convention, here it **absolutely** is, and (2) this level of infrastructural destruction is, no question, meant as pre-development demolition.

There’s a certain tone of voice [like Boris Johnson, Rees-Mogg & Farage] that makes the hairs on Irish people’s necks stand up. We instantly associate it with colonial untrustworthiness.

Here ‘Rah’ is another name for IRA. You can’t imagine how much Farage is despised here.
