Hello Bluesky people.
My first post, and I can think of no better message to everyone than this one, from Bertrand Russell in 1959. Enjoy.

Only just seen this piece by Starmer.

He notes £1 in every £10 spent by the government goes on debt interest alone.

(1997 national debt was £350B. By 2010 it was £1.1T. In 2024, it was £2.75T, meaning about 65p of the £1 was due to the Tories.)

Bottom line is, they’re clearly better with money.
There are those on the left and right who offer only grievance: Labour is getting on with the job of economic renewal | Keir Starmer
Judge last week’s budget in the light of our bold plans to sweep away red tape, tackle inactivity among young people and pursue a closer trading relationship with the EU, says prime minister Keir Star...

A probe into Russian interference in British politics really needs to go back at least 10 years.

This KGB agents son, Evgeny, was in the room when Johnson & Gove decided to back Brexit.

4 years later, Johnson gave him a peerage despite advice from MI5.
‘Lord’ Lebedev also owns British newspapers.

The prime minister admits he met Alexander Lebedev, an ex-KGB agent, without officials present.

There’s no sleaze, lies, or scandal.

There is all that in Reform UK Party Ltd, though.

Obviously the 4th Viscount Lord Rothermere doesn't want to pay mansion tax etc, and neither him nor Farage want a probe into Russian interference in British politics.

“Dear Diary,
People are still being mean about me being a racist at school. I tried saying I was only racist in a nice way, but that didn’t work so I pretended that the 23 witnesses were all making it up. Hopefully that will do the trick…”

Murdoch media man thinks he knows better than the infinitely more qualified female Chancellor.

Sunak also did a piece for this rag on the Budget — the billionaire Tory with a mansion.
My Sunday Times piece: The budget did nothing to boost growth and without a stronger revival, the public finances will remain vulnerable, and the threat of even higher taxes will persist:

Now we really need the growth fairy to wave her magic wand

Now we really need the growth fairy to wave her magic wand
Rachel Reeves’s budget extended the biggest stealth tax increase in history and left public spending unchecked. So where will growth come from?

The British mainstream media loved the Tories and vice versa. It was a symbiotic relationship.

That's over now, and the hacks have to pay more tax.

This is partly why the coverage of the Labour gov is so biased, and why they're so eager to get Farage in No10 — more money & stories for them again.

No Reform representative was available to appear on the Laura Kuenssberg show, due to a fear of being asked about me being a Nazi at school or my senior colleague being a convicted traitor.

I can say it — the likes of Farage and the Mail etc are lying to people. Again.
Many newspapers and politicians have been calling yesterday's fiscal statement a 'Budget for Benefits Street'. Here's three reasons why that is not accurate 🧵

Remember, Sunak is a billionaire, with a mansion.

Disgraceful! A patriotic flag shagger who dedicated his time to illegally putting up 64 flags is being charged £2,300 for the cost of taking them down. If it wasn't so funny I'd be furious.

Overall, the combination of tax rises and giveaways since last year’s Budget is progressive.

Incomes for households in the bottom half of the distribution have increased by 1.0 per cent and incomes for households in the top half fell by 0.7 per cent.

A few suggestions for those who will be paying a bit more tax after Labour’s Budget:
• Cut down on the avocado on toast & lattes
• Cut down on streaming services
• Get a mid-range Range Rover instead

Happy to help.

This is a Labour Budget — not a ‘Blue Labour’ Budget — a red one.
How will changes in the Budget impact different types of households?

Just discovered Reform UK Party Ltd seem to have a Bluesky account, which isn't very active: @reform-uk-official.bsky.social

The cover image includes one of their ex-MP’s and domestic abuser, James McMurdoch.

Farage appeared on Kremlin-funded RT 17 times.
They even offered him his own show.

He said Putin was the leader he admired most (as an operator).

Ex-Reform UK Party Ltd leader for Wales has just been jailed for a decade for taking Russian bribes.
Another UKIP MEP has now been accused of the same.

Remember DOGE — the Department of Government Efficiency? It no longer exists.
Not that it would have stopped Trump from spending millions of Americans' tax dollars on golf trips anyway.

Also, you can see makeup on Trump’s hand in this image.

I agree with Ed.

In fact, I'd go much further — I also think an investigation into hostile state money in politics and the mainstream media is necessary.
It’s clear to anyone paying attention that Farage won’t investigate the Russian infiltration of Reform.

The Prime Minister must step up and launch a national investigation.

France to start intercepting small boats in the Channel.

I look forward to Farage and the Mail etc acknowledging Starmer & Macron’s efforts on this issue.

Bannon was emailing Epstein about this.
Happy days, chatting to far right nutter Steve Bannon about plans to form a network of populists, including Putin's pal Viktor Orban, Russia supporting Narendra Modi and all round good guy, Rodrigo Duterte, currently in The Hague on charges of crimes against humanity.

Just to reiterate, Farage spent the same amount of money as this 3-bedroom semi-detached in West Bromwich costs on printing pictures of himself in the right-wing rags.

Almost unbelievable.

German cars and engineering is excellent.

The TÜV is Germany’s independent vehicle inspection authority. They found the Model Y posts the worst defect record of any new vehicle. The 3rd worst is the Model 3.

Tesla’s are expensive cheap rubbish.
