PSA: Christy Moore's website is a fantastic resource for folk music. There's a lyric sheet for every song he's ever sung, loads of mp3s, you can get Christy to chat to you and the web design has a charming handmade quality.

Writing music for sync sounds fun but every brief is like: “we want music that sounds like complete ass. Here is some ass we found that is too expensive.”

Palestine campaigning in Ireland and the UK has badly needed more union action and collective support of workers. That’s where the most power is, not with celebrity activists; the murder machine relies on labour. Stand with this Tesco worker who refused to handle Israeli goods

I was doing a knife fight scene in a play when the (fake) knife flew out into the audience!! We stalled for time and 3 different people threw knives on stage.
"When a doctor told me I’d come close to dying, and that the play had to stop using real knives, I remember thinking: “You just don’t understand theatre.”"

how I remember it I actually heard the explosion! Coz we lived nearby. But memories of being a kid are often so much more vivid than reality.

Copyright is a middleman. It says: you get paid if you successfully enforce artificial scarcity on infinitely copyable files. That's a precarious, adversarial way to fund creative work!!! To me, the problem isn't insufficient *ownership*. It's inadequate direct support for creative labour.

If a big player starts acquiring pattern catalogs/a platform changes its terms of service, designers could find themselves legally estranged from their own work. Copyright is a tool that scales with legal resources. It will always serve the biggest player in the room better than the smallest.

Not to mention that FF brought in the Industrial Relations Act in 1990, which limited the definition of a trade dispute to exclude "political" actions, such as the action taken by the Dunnes workers.
