I assume it'll take some time but hopefully by January that backcourt is dealing. If not, Cade is gonna have a hard time playing up to his All-NBA potential.

The Pistons are ready to make a run this year in a wide open Eastern conference.

Yes, that'd be a real benefit.

I share your interest as I'm still pondering the design of my spring course. The book's thematic (rather than chronological) chapter arrangement has me concerned that the (mostly first year) students will have a hard time with its structure, but Ellen's review makes a compelling case.

ACLS statement against White House “compact”: THIS IS SOVIET SHIT
Screenshot from statement “Universities and colleges have one mission: to advance knowledge. Faculty carry out the mission by conducting research and teaching students. The knowledge they produce and circulate is independently assessed by professional peers. Interfering with that process by forcing knowledge to pass through a political filter is a tactic adopted by the Soviet Union and other authoritarian states. The White House is dressing up its compact as a reasonable corrective to what it views as problems in campus culture. Let no one be deceived. This proposal imposes government censorship on academia. It is anti-American, and it weakens our democracy by devaluing academic expertise.”

According to eyewitnesses, armed ICE agents dragged kids out of their beds in the middle of the night, zip tied them and put them in rented vans while raiding an * entire apartment building* on the South Side of Chicago.

Five weeks into the semester, and I would like an orchestra of the world's smallest violins to perform for me as I reflect on how difficult it has become to sustain critical thought on anything other than the most immediate task in front of me.

Congratulations!! I'm looking forward to reading!
Did you make a new critical edition for 2 Bar or base yours on another? I'd been wondering if someone would go back to the MS

Virtue is not found in years of pleading with one's family, mentors, & friends, giving unearned and unreciprocated charity, & conversing on *their* terms to carefully posit other visions of human flourishing, but rather in...monetizing debate while presenting one's enemies as irredeemably lost. Cool

In terms of grammar, I don't notice anything precluding either translation, and without a better sense of the context (I don't think I've ever read Titus and don't really intend to lol),, I can't say more than this: I initially read it in line with the first option.

I have (pretty recently) experienced/heard about similar problems at OUP, Cambridge, Duke, Routledge, and Brill. Timelines have been exploding since 2020, and third-party work has in my experience been absurdly low quality. It all feels a bit unsustainable.

Lest we forget MLK's famous dictum: naming injustice anywhere automatically forecloses on justice everywhere.

But how will you learn what separates real history (Thomas Moore, Dostoyevsky) from "anti-historical" "gropings" (Angela Davis, trans/queer/disabled experiences) and the difference between humanism (a stray line from MLK, philology) from a "post-humanist proliferation of micro-identities"?
