Think I've got it: Take the google average, subtract 10 wpm if a 9 am session, but add an extra 10 wpm if senior people are on the panel to account for anxious fast talking, and finally round down generously so as not to make enemies

Totally fine to hop in/out of sessions (try to do so discretely by sitting near the back). Pace thyself with free alchohol—fatigue, dehydration and nerves can make one drink go further than you might expect. Whether making your schedule or chatting with others, be curious about work beyond your area

Feels like the interior OL post-Ragnow is going to doom us this year when it matters

It’s an exercise in infantilization to do everything you can to prevent a student from taking a shortcut. Let them develop their own agency if they want to. Use your time as an educator to come up with assignments that are good on their own merits & not bc they flummox a probability machine.

The odds that all four of my flights (all to/from airports on this list) go according to plan are...suboptimal. Can't wait to zoom in from SeaTac to give my Saturday paper.

Have y'all thought about possible publication venues for this panel? I would *love* to attend but the scheduling gods have cursed me with a concurrent paper.

yeah, I really enjoyed it. but I hadn't thought of using it as a pedagogical resource for family. ha

I swear this headline shows up about once a month and I always hear about it first from my mom. lol

Great list + great idea for a thread (usually one has to dig through the footnotes to find a project's intellectual catalysts. Even more excited to read the book!

I'm especially horrified by the increasing frequency of my own "why am I saying this" count. Like shouldn't I be learning from repeated mistakes with time? Why am I uncorking another Tim Robinson line in this class??
