The other great myth is that authors get nothing for library loans. Again untrue if there’s Public Lending Right and similar schemes in play. I get a decent sum from those every year.

Another totally misleading headline in the Mail. What Palma is actually doing is stopping any new holiday let licences and banning party boats in the bay. The existing 639 tourist apartments carry on as before.

Headline in the Mail “Now Majorca’s capital tells tourists: Don’t visit”, which is untrue as Palma is just not allowing new holiday lets.

Depends on the deal but believe it or not you can get as much from those cheap offers as more expensive ones where the cut is less. Complex business publishing but higher price doesn't necessarily mean more for the author.

By doing so we did, in fact, make an art-historical discovery: although penises are rife throughout the rest of the palace, there are no penises on the walls, ceiling, or other art work of the Chamber of the Great Council.
