What the hell is going on with all of these Instagram posts with suburban & urban rich white women complaining about having to clean up for their cleaning ladies?!

Get the fuck out of here. I can barely afford childcare & you're complaining about having a cleaning lady?

So fucking tone deaf.

Agreed. Use her name recognition to advocate for someone else. She would be taking office at 78 & facing reelection at 84.

This is insanity! She admitted herself that she's worried about her age - heed your own warning!

The Democratic gerontocracy doesn't have the energy to stand up to fascism!

This quote sums up how I've been feeling over the last month. The more I try to talk to MAGA or MAGA sympathetic people, the more I realize they genuinely live in their own reality. This reality is void of morality and decency. They take glee and celebrate others suffering. It's despicable.

There's no "regular politics" anymore because you can no longer maintain the idea that we all agree on common goals but we only differ about the means of getting there or whatever. The guys in charge now are plainly amoral, sadistic nihilists. They delight in it! You can't civilly disagree with that
davidbulcock.bsky.social
I agree. I'm not trying to make excuses, but explain why it exists the way it does. Most people aren't willing to give up their relative, while crappy, comforts in hopes of improving things. They've been told for years that the US is the best, so how could disrupting what we have make things better.

rightfully terrified that their family will be destitute if they spend more than a couple days a month protesting.

The system is working as intended. We are getting rolled by an authoritarian government and people are too sick, tired and poor to do anything about it.

It's depressing as hell.
davidbulcock.bsky.social
It's a very interesting situation. A lot of people I talk to legitimately feel like they do not have the time or energy to protest at that scale.

We have no guaranteed social safety net, healthcare tied to employment, outrageous childcare etc.

The majority of the population are wage slaves &

The campaign against “antifa” is about establishing a beachhead for further attacks on speech and assembly rights. We see that today in the effort to preemptively label No Kings protesters as “terrorists.”

People need to listen to @chrismurphyct.bsky.social. He's not being alarmist. He's being honest.

We aren't on the verge of an authoritarian takeover. We are in the middle of it.

But I worry people don't see the whole scheme. They just pay attention to each new daily outrage. So I went to the Senate floor to explain Trump's plan.

Here's a 🧵of the speech. It's important.

This response we are seeing from Portland.. it gives me hope..

Humor, fun and joy are all infectious...

I love it.

Mockery may be one of the greatest weapons we have right now... just showcase how unhinged these claims are.

People been sworn in by judges in the past. Have a Supreme Court justice swear her in and let them waste their time challenging it. The GOP doesn't follow norms anymore. The laws on our side, I say we move forward.
davidbulcock.bsky.social
This is what I've been saying! It'd be great to see Jackson, Sotomayor or Kagan do it!

I'm tired of them getting to play by their own set of rules.
davidbulcock.bsky.social
Just have Jackson, Sotomayor or Kagan swear her in. Let them challenge that. The constitution just says she is required to swear an oath or affirmation to support the constitution.

Fuck them using the norms when it's convenient for them, we can disrupt the norms too.
davidbulcock.bsky.social
That's the tradition. All the constitution says is that they "shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support the Constitution"

What you're referring to is the tradition. In rare occasions judges or other officials have sworn reps in.

So let's have Jackson, Sotomayor or Kagan do it.

I think it's a matter of when, not if, and we should all have a plan.
sethabramson.bsky.social
It seems clear—I think to everyone, now—that a false and illegal invocation of the Insurrection Act is coming before the end of the year. Media outlets should be telling us how they will prepare for this potential Treason. State governments should be telling us. Activists should be developing plans.

I see everyone talking about Rep Grijalva not being sworn in to her office. Technically the constitution only requires she take an oath of office to be able to be seated, why not just have Hakeem Jeffries administer the oath for her?

Hell, we could have Jackson, Sotomayor or Kagan do it.
mamasissiesays.bsky.social
Why are Republicans protecting pedophiles?? What are they hiding??

Swear-in Adelita Grijalva & release the Epstein files.
davidbulcock.bsky.social
Or hell, why not have Jackson, Sotomayor or Kagan do it?

Can a constitutional scholar give any input?

It’s time to swear in Rep-elect Adelita Grijalva.
Graphic featuring Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva, with the following text:

"My constituents want me to get to work, but House Republicans are more concerned about protecting the Epstein files."

The constitution only requires that she be sworn in with the official oath. It doesn't state who has to do it. Why doesn't Hakeem Jefferies just administer the oath for her?

This is another great example. I'm sorry your life is on hold because of our broken healthcare system.

The only reason I was able to go fully in on my business is because of the ACA tax credits, and with those being wiped out I could be in trouble.
davidbulcock.bsky.social
This is what I've been saying!! The wealth/corporate class will not save us. They just need stability to thrive, they don't NEED freedom of speech or human rights. It was just what came along with the most recent form of stability.

Fascism will provide stability too, & they will be ok with it.
jysexton.bsky.social
And yes, some of the media conglomerations are capitulating, but what is being revealed, day by day, is that the wealth class isn't just afraid of Trump, they're on board with the ongoing fascist escalation that we've been watching for decades. It helps to see this clearly and not living in denial.
