Ever since Venezuela occupied Omaha in the 1980s, locals have cowered, cattle have trembled. Venezuela must return this Land (not to mention Des Moines!) to America!

What’s interesting to me is it’s a window into the Penske pay-to-play world of awards season. While no big secret in Hollywood I doubt most consumers know that every actors-on-actors interview they see in their socials was bought & paid for by studios campaigning.

In Linklater’s great Nouvelle Vague Coutard tells Godard he’d make a great dolly grip. That reminded me of when I pushed dolly on my film Between Us and grip Mitch Galpin said only other director he had who’d pushed dolly was Johnny Depp on The Brave (whose OG producer was ax murderer I knew at USC)

Seeing an item just now in a financial newsletter noting that Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Mike Bloomberg, Nvidia and CEO Jensen Huang are all 5’7” reminded me of Asset-Adjusted Height — the concept we invented for this chart, part of a cover story in Spy’s issue #8 in 1987.
