It's long been true that startup code is written by the cheapest, most incompetent coders you can find, because they will work for experience/peanuts/"equity".

You then hire competent coders not to tidy up the mess but to build features on top of the mess.

AI will ABSOLUTELY make this worse.

I took a look at Liz Truss's website for The Leconfield, her new Mayfair club asking for £500,000 from members to build it, and ran the images through the AI detection software Detesia, here's the results.

Everyone is getting upset about the data centers. They pollute a lot and use a lot of energy and will eventually be very ugly/huge vacant buildings. And I understand being mad about that. Until you consider the state of the lazer tag industry at this moment, and how much help that sector needs.

Really liking #Vivaldi browser so far. Lots of UI options.

I'm genuinely impressed by the sheer level of hatred Cloudflare UX/UI people have for their users.

In further news, the US Coast Guard - now renamed Die Kriegsmarine - will embark on a U-Boat offensive to sink shipping on the Atlantic routes
Behind this important reversal is a member of the Coast Guard who saw what was happening and had the courage to leak it to the press. That person deserves serious praise.

Hearing a new version of PHP is out is like hearing that a band you followed back in the early 2000s, that you haven't listened to in years, and who you assumed broke up maybe 10 years ago, just put out a new album.

Known as “Hurrian Hymn No. 6,” this is the oldest complete #song known to humankind.

Discovered in an excavation in northern #Syria in the 1950s & written in #cuneiform in the #Hurrian language, the song is believed to date to at least 1400 B.C.

Scrum is the Trojan horse of agile frameworks: enables top-down micromanagement in the guise of superficially empowering workers. Genuinely one of the worst things to happen to the craft of software development (before LLMs came along, that is).
