All you fascists still bound to lose
It has been happening in SWAT raids for a long time - they break and enter, and shoot the dogs first. Even little dogs, golden retrievers, whatever. And they get away with it. We've been laying the groundwork for totalitarianism for decades. We are a complacent people.
I should clarify that this is not more shocking than what they do to humans, but it is so wantonly, needlessly cruel to kill a pet like that when there is no incentive whatsoever to do so - it's just to cause suffering. And in a context where there can never be any meaningful accountability.
The current SCOTUS is (aggressively) continuing the long project of dismantling Bivens and 1983, and that sucks but I almost think that no protections at all would be better than the lip service we've been getting all this time. Emperors and clothing and all that.
What's really incredible to me is that we are more than 60 years into the modern era of civil rights litigation, and the net effect of all the settlements and all the trial victories on bad police behavior appears to be: diddly/squat.
There's no hell hot enough for these people, and yet our current system does not really allow for a modicum of *civil* justice against untrained, stupid, reckless, or even openly malicious federal agents. It's utterly intolerable.
I've been litigating cop cases for almost 20 years so it is rare that I see law enforcement behavior that truly shocks me to my core, but this is it. CBP searches for undocumented people. Dog is contained. CBP *let the dog out and then shot him.* Unbelievable.

I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.

It's not just that they're going to strike down a law against conversion therapy, it's that they're going to do it on behalf of made-up claims from a straw plaintiff who can't honestly show the law affected her at all
One thing about American's widespread distrust and disapproval of the Supreme Court is that mainstream news coverage mostly doesn't dwell on stuff like standing, so people don't even begin to grasp how rigged the Court truly is www.nytimes.com/live/2025/10...

To be fair, this has nothing on the situations where a federal judge finds definitively that something the government did/is doing is illegal but is powerless to remedy it.
Absolute failure of our system that a federal judge can be “very concerned” about Trump’s unlawful attempt to send troops into a city, but also powerless to stop it.

The default should be to protect us from government abuse, not to protect government from temporary inconvenience.

Note that, those masked men could be anyone. There is a reason for government agents to show badges when they arrest someone.

Somewhere in America, a young Hispanic girl is hiding in an attic writing a diary.
Big tough guys. This is not even close to the worst of what we're about to see. Take all the police violence we're already familiar with, triple it, and take away the training. Forget 2026, the U.S. will be an uninhabitable hell in a year at this rate.

The interaction illustrates how federal law enforcement officers do use aggressive tactics against protesters who yell and needle officers but don’t appear to present clear physical threats.

“Fuck them kids.”

That’s literally what an ICE agent said when ICE, the FBI et al. raided an apartment in Chicago, including with a Blackhawk helicopter, separated children from their parents, and zip-tied them to each other.

MADELEINE DEAN: The president is unhinged. He's unwell

JOHNSON: A lot of folks on your side are too

D: Oh my god, please. That performance in front of the generals?

J: I didn't see it

D: It's so dangerous! Our allies are looking elsewhere. Our enemies are laughing. You have a POTUS who's unwell.
