My memoir project is way late. I was supposed to hand it in years ago. My publisher has been very patient
The original pitch was something like “the trans Persepolis.” A story about growing up as a closeted trans kid, in an era when the concept of being trans wasn’t something you encountered often.

Pretty much what it says. More unicorn comics. It has the storyline with Marigold’s robot unicorn double, which felt like a reach when I thought of it but wound up being a personal favorite storyline.

In college, I decided to start making comics. I wasn’t good at it, at first, but I had something to say, and people responded to that.
I also picked up a guitar for the first time. I wasn’t good at it, at first, but I kept playing and trying to write songs, and eventually people stopped wincing.

The proper answer is to say that it’s a tie between every kid who’s ever taken the time to write me and tell me they love my comic, who at this point number in the thousands.
