Imagining a party with the strength and will to power to enforce a party line upon every single one of its members, while still totally capitulating to public opinion

this would still be annoying, but it would be way less annoying if we didnt have the flip side asymmetry of 'there is nothing an elected GOPer can say that can be attributed to the broader party, even if every single GOP pol is saying it in unison"
Med school is a hazing ritual imposed on a superstitious people to make them believe their expensive healthcare is worth the cost
Doctors out here be PRACTICING medicine, they just do shit and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't its just at the end of the day they go home to their nice big house and enjoy their nice big salaries
I think there’s a provocative conversation to be had about the role of race and ethnicity in China but the last people I want leading that conversation are American conservatives
"If you follow the logic of democratic socialism to the horizon, America winds up like Scandinavia. If you follow the logic of national socialism to the horizon, America winds up like China."
Donald Trump Is a Commie
Bernie’s democratic socialism is still compatible with liberal democracy. Trump’s national socialism is not. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Thing is that the Democratic Party is already rather centralist in its operations (only people with money can run and donors only fund moderates) and yet the party still has a perception problem

How long will it take for MattY to learn Democrats are suffering from a propaganda problem?
like, genuinely, what is the method to ensure a centrist cohesive party line that Matty wants here outside of methods like democratic centralism

I’m just saying I think I liked the pundits more when they’d write articles on things like the Death Penalty or calling for investment in infrastructure instead of just rehashing how Dems need to move to the center because of perceptions every week

It’s probably start with pundits like himself not hyper fixating on weird meta shit, wherein rather than champion the policies or candidates they want people to support they endlessly naval gaze about the nature of the Democratic Party via 3rd order reporting on the broad narrative of news stories

like the only way I could see Matty's enforced moderation working is if every single state Democratic party had to debate the National level policy planks and adopt them only
He is declared mod of every liberal and progressive post and can delete them if they deviate from what the polls say?

For a serious response, I imagine he wants the DNC to kick any and every member out that proposes something unpopular that is considered progressive.
Ahaha thank you for your public service on this explanation!
This is the type of insight which keeps me coming back to George
OH MY GOD GEORGE WHAT IS AN ASSET SWAP okay we have to do some accounting again. The tables below show what QE is. It just expands balance sheets, and the end result is that the private sector swaps a long-term asset (bond) for a short-term one (a bank deposit).
@peark.es is it true are the banks out of money? Should we run to the bank and withdraw our money?
I love this idea! It side-steps the feudalism quagmire and gets right at the new reality of our political economy

8/As Stacie and I argue, we are moving from a world of Webarian states predicated on national security to a world of elite cliques using extraction to establish material and status dominance. This is not transactionalism/spheres of influence. Welcome to neo-royalism.

I’m so very disappointed in this letter
I received this mail from Arcadia Publishing, the company which now owns Belt Publishing, who originally published my book in 2022.

Belt's authors are not the sort of people who are gonna be cool with this. I feel really bad for whoever is answering the emails at Arcadia next week.

Why EY and not say West Monroe? Tribune doing friendly PR for a foreign firm
From the editorial board:

The British professional services firm EY — formerly known as Ernst & Young — knows a lot about the sorry state of Chicago’s finances and the best ways out of this mess.
Editorial: City Council should haul in EY and ask some tough budget questions
Time for City Council to grill the EY consultants who got taxpayer cash.
