Somehow it’s the mediocre or bad brownies that end up being the most disappointing. I can suffer through a lot of other not-good bakery and not think much of it, but a bad brownie feels like a personal attack.

We’ve got a few Piggly Wigglys (tagline: “Shop the pig!”) where I am, but mostly our groceries here are a bit more sensibly named: Metro Market, Meijer, Woodman’s, Pick n’ Save (plus Aldi and Trader Joe’s).

She'd just shrug it off if you called it out. Like it was just the price you had to pay if you wanted some of her time.

Looking back, there were a lot of ego-based issues going on.

I had one friend who was nearly always at least 1/2 hour late to everything. Got so if we were making plans, I'd suggest meeting 30 minutes before I actually wanted to. She was still usually a little late.

So rude. I don't miss that nonsense.

Took me four tries to get past the middle of S1, but now I love it and have watched the entire series multiple times. But I totally get it not clicking for others.

I started The Corner way back when but don’t think I was in the right space for it. Thanks for the reminder to give it another shot!

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

It’s true: the cities are lawless and scary, if you live here sell your property as fast as possible, particularly if you have a 2 family row house from the 1920s with those nice bay windows.
