2024 is done and now it's time for a new gaming thread for 2025! I'm staying the course with my backlog as well as new releases. I'm excited for experiences I'll have in the year ahead!

Does anyone know of any PS5/PS4 games that use the touchpad a ton? My touchpad is being a little too sensitive in Ghost of Yotei and I'm trying to figure out if it's the game or my controller. I remember this happening when I played Tsushima too.

I played this cute little game on-and-off recently called Stacklands and its pretty good! It's a Survival game mixed with a city builder that involves you stacking cards to craft things. Surprisingly addicting. Not gonna blow your mind but fun. Best on PC.

Oh, and as someone who is a Side Quest junkie, I find the way the game handles quests to be very unintuitive, using the D-Pad to mark your active one on the map screen. Also not having a quest log or journal really irritates a completionist like me. Not sure why that was removed.

I've got about 13 hours in Ghost of Yotei and I have to say I don't like it as much as Tsushima though I'm struggle to determine why that is...? Other than "it has no sauce" I don't know how to express that until I play more since that doesn't really describe how I feel. 🧵 (1/4)

Feel free to ask if you have questions though, those are just my gut-check thoughts on it.

The exploration feels so rewarding. Most of the time. There's still those lame pillars that just give a cool dye for your katana. But I love the side activities. Overall, unless the story ends up being mind-blowing I don't think I'm gonna be sold more on it sadly. (4/4)

I'm not sold on the story much yet and I think this game kinda is like "Here's the story, here's Atsu's motivations, GO". A bit of a Shadow of Mordor approach I guess and once I considered it from that angle I began to enjoy it more. (3/4)

I think this game does a lot of what AC Shadows wanted to do but way better. I think Atsu is a solid MC. I am enjoying the game but not loving it and I'm not thrilled coming back to it. (2/4)

I feel like a review this is just out of bitter malice and isn't constructive at all, like smoke some weed or something and chill damn lmao

Does anyone know who voices Yone (Atsu's mother) in Ghost of Yotei? Her voice is super familiar.

The fact I get into games instantly on console as well. That should tell you something.

Unfortunately people who don't even play on PC use Steam player count as some end-all to determine a game's interest and state when that shouldn't be the case at all. Stop the PC heliocentrism.

I don't know why this needs to be said because I thought it was common sense, but even Gamerant made this error, so I'll say it - Marvel Rivals has most of its playerbase on console. Casuals are drawn to a big IP like that more and most casuals own a console.

So no, it's not dying.

I was curious about how well PS3 games would stream on a PS5 with an Ethernet cable plugged in, but the quality is still awful unfortunately. Tried it with Infamous 1 and there's almost no input delay at all, but that quality is so bad that it is not worth bothering sadly.

I don't think I'm okay today. But that's alright. I'll be better.

Having say 8 or so days out of the whole year so far as depression days is a huge step-up from pre-2022 where it was like constant for me. Has crept up more than 2023 and 2024 tbh but I'll be fine.

So I was going to play Silent Hill f and really wanted to but the rental GameFly sent me apparently got lost in the mail lol

Ghost of Yotei showed up just fine tho so I'll be diving in tomorrow.

I feel the same way about it though I’m going to probably play it in December, need a clear head for it

I've played a lot of the COD beta and I like it but I also feel very sad. Because COD is potentially putting out one of their best recent games so far with BO7 at the worst possible time, a time where interest is at an all time low in the IP.

I have discovered the joy of playing Adam Warlock in Marvel Rivals

Was thinking about COD back in the day since the BO7 beta is out and I realized that the COD that was out 10 years ago was Black Ops 3

Now I feel incredibly old

I played Monument Valley 2 recently and enjoyed it, but I also felt like its tone shifted into something much brighter than the first game. That's nice and all but it does lose a little "oomf" that doesn't resonate as much for me. Also a much easier game. Still good, but didn't wow me.
