Plant/garden stan. If I’m here, I’m probably procrastinating/disassociating. Help yourself to my Lists, esp. my News It Or Lose It List feed.

If my feed seems too empty, bland or cringe lately, sorry, but I’m actively trying to avoid posting negative stuff here. At least for a while, as I try not to add to the gloom & doom of [gestures all around us].

If the press weren't hopelessly cowed, major publications would be tracking the crimes that the 1000+ goons Trump pardoned in his first week in office have committed since then and we'd all have a sense of that number.
Taranto "issued a bomb threat and carried weapons in Washington D.C.'s Kalorama neighborhood in 2023, where former President Barack Obama lives. Taranto was seen in the neighborhood just one day after Trump posted the Obama family's address on his Truth Social account."

It may sound radical, but if one guy has so much wealth and power that he can use the large newspaper he owns to publicly threaten to ruin a service we all rely on, presumably as a bargaining tactic to get lower rates, we probably need to tax that guy until he can't do that anymore.

But Amazon may give up its long-standing partnership with USPS to deliver packages itself, which could spell disaster for the mail agency.

Hypothetically, any surviving human can return to combat. This would be laughable if it weren't a matter of murder.

We really need more & more people to loudly state that SCOTUS is a rogue, illegitimate court.
They don’t have to explain why they allow one thing (Texas) and will strike down the other (California). A justification isn’t the point. They’re telling you they are in charge and can do whatever they want and you can’t stop them.

Of course it was Christopher Rufo.🙄
New @ms.now: Why is Trump suddenly obsessed with Somalia?

It all started with a story by conservative activist Christopher Rufo that went viral in right-wing media—despite the fact that one of its key claims remains unsubstantiated.

Here's what to know:
How one article sparked Trump’s ire at Somali immigrants
A story linking Somali immigrants to terrorism and social services fraud went viral in conservative media. Now a community is bracing for raids.

It’s driving me nuts that the Trump admin shifted the focus to solely the 2nd strike, & the press & many Dems are just going along with that.
The fact that a second strike like that in an armed conflict is definitely a war crime should not completely negate the fact that *there is no war* and ALL the strikes are cold-blooded murder. The whole chain of command are murderers.

The correct stance, even just from a financial standpoint.

Eric Adams blew over $6.4million throwing away homeless people’s belongings, instead of spending that $ on housing & services. People were traumatized & put in even more dire straits, potentially pressed to steal, to regain basic supplies.
NEW: Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani said Thursday he will not continue sweeps of homeless encampments — which city data shows have not yielded any permanent or supportive-housing referrals in more than a year.

If we take these people in good faith, they are fully delusional & should be forced to resign so they can focus on their mental health.

If we take them as bullshitters, they should be forced to resign for lying to us & trying to rationalize murders.

Also,
THIS RENDITION IS STILL A WAR CRIME!
Q: What did you see in the second strike?

Cotton: "I saw two survivors trying to flip a boat -- loaded with drugs, bound for the United States -- back over, so they could stay in the fight."

That second part is what should really have Republicans spooked. This isn't just Democratic turnout differential like '23-24 specials. Their own voters are turning on Trump.
14% swing from 2024 when all is said and done? Pretty good considering just how high-profile the race became in the last week

Turnout is currently *93%* of 2022, and it's also a 14% swing from 2022 despite similar turnout levels

I wouldn’t be surprised if the news coverage of his snoozing results in him constantly pounding uppers.

His ego can’t handle being exposed as a declining old man. And the “Sleepy Joe” comparisons, which he brought on himself, will drive him mad.
Trump began today's Cabinet meeting by criticizing questions about his stamina.

"I think I’m sharper than I was 25 years ago," the president said, later mocking "Sleepy Joe."

Then he appeared to battle sleep for more than an hour.

The point not being made well, is that *it would still be unlawful murder* even if they knew that the people on the boats were drug dealers, terrorists, or other sorts of criminals. It’s extrajudicial killings, in international waters, & at a time when we are not engaged in war.
Rand Paul just posted this letter from the Coast Guard confirming that 1/4 of the boats they stop carry no contraband. The likelihood that Hegseth & Bradley ordered the murder of innocent civilians is very high.

Kushner said he wouldn't have a foreign policy role in this administration just like the Trump Organization said it wouldn't make new foreign deals, just like Karoline Leavitt said Trump has never engaged in a conflict of interest.
As Jared Kushner prepares to meet with Putin today on behalf of Trump, REMEMBER: After taking billions from the Saudis and other foreign governments, Kushner explicitly said he would not have a foreign policy role in this administration.
