Went to FurFest for the day, and felt mostly out of place in the young crowd. Then, found the furry cabal’s (aka, the people I know who run/used to run the con 😆) corner hotel suite and had a good time catching up.

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

Oh. I just updated myself on this year’s FurFest social media drama, and all I can do is just roll my eyes.

Omfg people. Get a grip.

I really should have staffed at FurFest this year, for the first time in over a decade. But this summer after I quit my paycheck was crazy with the new drone business, I took off one day from fall harvest in six weeks, and now suddenly it is con weekend.

Oops.

STUPID! If you want to know why cars cost more, look at tariffs, commodity spikes, electronics, and supply chain changes — not long-established fuel economy rules. Weakening CAFE standards could backfire and lead to HIGHER gas prices if vehicles become less efficient.

“Critics say” Trump’s remarks on Somalis were bigoted?

JFC what are you doing?
December 3, 2025 at 3:05 PM
Yup
I've lived for "a while". There was a time I would have been considered "middle of the road to mild conservative right". The goalposts have moved so far to the right, that now I would be considered a "rabid commie librul lefty".

The real question is not "Why is Bluesky so left-coded," the real question is "Why can't the right exist in a social media environment without algorithmic assistance, where people can ignore them"

MOAR SNOW.

My wife decided to shovel mid-storm. I won’t do the driveway until tomorrow.

Woke up to basically this. It’s snowing harder now. Let’s see what happens!

Corn is done yay. One truckload didn’t fit in the bin. Will deal with that later.

Celebrated by loading 250 bales of hay for a customer. Gahh
November 22, 2025 at 8:38 PM
So tired of harvest. Got like 10 acres to go, still might not fit everything in the bin due to a misaligned grain spreader filling one side of the bin before the other. Will finish that corn somehow today, then I have 15 tons of fertilizer to spread before it rains again.

Not sure what’s going on with this.
Forget $2 gas, diesel is quietly surging towards $4/gal, with Indiana just becoming the 7th state to reach that mark. Next states that will see $4:
Nevada ($3.98)
Michigan ($3.96)
Maine ($3.96)
Illinois ($3.93)
New York ($3.90)

This utter dipshit. Prices are high in part because ports were closed to feeder cattle from Mexico because of screwworm, which is the EXACT OPPOSITE of what he’s saying. Also because slaughterhouses have lost many workers, tariffs on imported beef, feed prices going up, etc etc it’s a rich tapestry.
Last month he was a soybean farmer, this month he’s an expert on intercontinental cattle drives.

I have shelves now for my drone equipment! Dad is also going to use these. We are negotiating winter shop sharing. 🤣

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."
November 13, 2025 at 10:12 PM
I guess I’m a real farmer now. Buying Milwaukee tools. Got a bunch of drone maintenance work to do, was tired of turning the endless hex screws by hand.

Sorry Ryobi. I’m abandoning you.

I have a battery on the way, but I can also just steal Dad’s endless supply. Muahaha
November 14, 2025 at 4:06 AM
Well, we’re harvesting the last 50 acres. I’m not convinced we’ve had enough hauled to market, but we’ll see!
November 13, 2025 at 4:18 PM
Well, we didn’t finish corn harvest before first snow. 🙄

Trump has been touting the cost of the Walmart Thanksgiving meal bundle as proof that the economy is doing well, noting it's cheaper than last year's bundle.

But @allansmith.bsky.social compared the two, and there's a catch: There's also less food in it.

Trump touts cost of Walmart's Thanksgiving meal to vindicate his policies — ignoring a key detail
Since Tuesday's elections, Trump has repeatedly boasted that Walmart's Thanksgiving meal bundle is cheaper than it was under President Joe Biden. But there's also less food in it.

Huh
Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

Soup season. First batch of the lemon chicken rice soup is on the stove. Except it’s lemon turkey rice this time, as we had a turkey (yes, an entire turkey) from last year Jenne cooked over the weekend.
