I'm being a wild man and...not packing for the con tonight. Though the hotel is only 45 minutes away and I don't need to be there before noon, if then. It will be nice to not be too rushed.

Since our fucking government isn’t observing World AIDS Day, I will. In 1990, I started taking care of people in the last stages of AIDS in their homes. I did this for nearly two years. The home care company I worked for had meetings for those of us who solely (or nearly solely) took care of PWAs.

I’m not much of a “bar guy” - I lean towards introverted - but I just spent an hour with three random couples shooting the shit and it was so much fun (and so needed). Huh, it turns out I can fake being an extrovert after all!

Another round of insomnia last night, for about an hour between 3 AM and 4 AM. That usually happens right around this time each year. Gosh, I wonder why that is? I'm looking forward to a more solid sleep schedule in about 8 days or so!

Looks like maybe 5" of snow on the ground here so far. It's been a lovely day - a bit of loafing on the couch, a bit of convention work, and taking care of some housework. Next up, a spot of baking!
Dinner was going to be chicken tikka masala, but the chicken was spoiled 🫤 Frozen pizza it is!

Many thanks to @tigy.bsky.social for an enjoyable dinner and chat this evening! He is dogsitting, and I was thoroughly charmed by his charges, Basil (black mouth cur mix) and Scooter (beagle mixed with something with a beautiful soft coat). Both very sweet dogs! Dog therapy FTW 🙂

Do you like Negronis but find Campari too bitter to really enjoy it? A bartender in Lakewood, CO shared this tip with me: Substitute Cappelletti Apertivo (alpenz.com/product-capp...) for the Campari. Also it helps to use a robust sweet vermouth like Carpano Antica or Cocchi Vermouth di Torino.
