Looking trains used with the Department 56 line has been fascinating. As in, they had options that ranged from unusual to okay to even "I can see what working within the Dept. 56 universe."

When is Bachmann gonna release the fuckin' Express Coaches in N scale, man?
This is like one of the biggest things picking away at the back of my mind atm
Because I'd love to do N scale with the Thomas line, but if I finally invest in it just for them to cancel the coaches, I'm gonna lose my mind

The guys at the Kato stand were kind enough to let me have a play with their Duke prototype.
Sadly, he won't be coming to the UK market due to licensing agreements, but I'm sure plenty will find their way from Japan... 😄

Experimenting with using some cork roadbed I had laying around to level out between Unitrack in the yard and reduce the amount of scenery mortar I need to use. Note the wide variety of small objects holding down the cork while the glue dries.

got myself a rivarossi u25c. It’s a gorgeously well done model! I’m probably gonna get more and use them as the main power on my layout alongside some SD45’s

just a loop of track and a train on its own really gets boring fast. For what Lionel is charging for their bare bones started sets, THIS is what they should be providing in terms of play value. It shows the customer that this miniature world is expandable beyond the confines of a loop of track.
