In Minneapolis, ICE arrested a 5-year-old coming home from preschool and tried to use him as human bait.

His teacher describes him as “a bright young student.”

These monsters are sick.

Rereading Lord of the Rings, and I just got to the Scouring of the Shire, and I really quite like that not one of the four main hobbits think of the situation as anything other than a giant goddamn pain in their asses.

Seems like we’re gonna get a good test case of “comedy = tragedy + time” in about twenty years.

Fellas, if your "Do you want to use this AI feature?" box is so big it literally makes using your tool in the traditional way impossible, I'm gonna close it even if I was potentially gettable. I gotta be able to read my document.

Was debugging some bad behavior in a data sync around very large database tables, and because I now don't want to go back rewrite a bunch of code, the concept of "big boys" is now integral to its functioning.

Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn’t Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, or Alice in Chains.

The Pope: I DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH MORE BACK TO BASICS I CAN MAKE THIS FOR YOU PEOPLE.
Pope Leo said in a Christmas Eve sermon that the story of Jesus being born in a stable because there was no room at an inn should remind Christians that refusing to help the poor and strangers today is tantamount to rejecting God himself. For @reuters.com

This feels like less a story about the power of AI and more a story about how it’s easy to change someone’s mind if you’re willing to lie with sociopathic confidence.
New research suggests AI chatbots can shift people’s political views more effectively than campaign ads on TV.

However, researchers are concerned AI companies could “set the models up to push for one side or another.”
Voters’ minds are hard to change. AI chatbots are surprisingly good at it.

Not to carry any water for Netflix lighting, but it is weird how ten to fifteen years ago, half of movies were just like “throw a sickly green pallor on that bad boy!”

Bit of an unforced error on Durham County’s part to be like, “Show up for jury duty *by* 8:30,” and then be like “Jk/lol, if you get here early, we’re gonna make you stand in the rain.”

On top of just the straightforward ghoulishness of it all, 250 arrests doesn’t seem like all that much for the amount of effort they put in.
The U.S. Border Patrol made over 250 arrests and clashed with protesters in Charlotte, North Carolina, during their weeklong operation that began on Nov. 15.

Federal officials have offered few details about those arrested, or when and where agents will show up next. https://wapo.st/47YGYn3
