September Update: Welp I realized I screwed up and included a reread (which I don't want to use for @beatthebacklist.com) & a new release in the previous months. SO I removed both (lolsob) & reset my numbers this month to show that. Oof. But progress was made I swear!
A bingo card for the Beat The Backlist reading challenge updated including my books read in September. 30 prompts are currently filled in with book covers.

I was so tempted to roll down the window and tell him the loser wasn’t worth it, but they had started throwing things at each other as well as throwing hands and I did NOT want to risk my windshield lolsob

Anyway! I am once again glad I married a good man instead of a loser boy.

I swear I have some of the most bizarre commutes these days. For once traffic was great, but after I stopped at a gas station, I got stuck in the parking lot bc of the full on brawl blocking the exit. Two chicks were fighting over this scrawny skuzzy dude who was just LOVING it and egging them on.1/

Some FAQs that have come up in 2025 for the new #DVpit on Bluesky!
We Discourage the use of Agent Guides, Pitches or Excerpts as attached graphics to pitches.
It bogs down the feed & doesn't allow agents to get through as many pitches. We'd like to allow everyone a fair shot at making an impression

For BCS, very much this. We're seeing a lot more gen AI and especially part AI/part human 'hybrid' subs this summer, we've gotten better at spotting them, and we're noting who has sent them.
kaleidotrope.bsky.social
I just want to add: the chances of an editor not noticing, much less thinking the story is good enough to publish, are incredibly slim, while the consequences for submitting AI to publishers who don’t want it are likely severe and lasting. You might as well try writing the story yourself.
kaleidotrope.bsky.social
Let’s say you “write” a story with AI, and you don’t disclose that to an editor, who somehow doesn’t realize and publishes the story, which no reader ever calls out as AI—what of any worth, exactly, have you accomplished?

I had worked VERY HARD to avoid knowing anything about the labubu thing. So, of course, the husbeast got our toddler daughter one of the cursed things. And she LOVES it. Send help.

Ick ick ick. And I thought furbees were disturbing.
clmccollum.bsky.social
Yeah watching that video she so DESPERATELY wants snuggles. Maybe placate by saying ‘you’ll keep her just while you put up posters?’ And then see if she convinces him? Lol

I’m not cheating on my owned #tbr; I’m doing ‘market research’ and supporting a small town #library. Yeah. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it 😉 #amreading #booksky #bookstacks #libraryhaul #librarybooks

No YOU just spent your lunch break wishlisting every book on your physical #tbr that has an #audiobook available on @libro.fm to make it easier to see at a glance which of the books you need copies of are available under the current sale prices.

... I may have an audiobook problem lolsob #booksky

Especially as the creepy litRPG thing has a much different feel to the Trailer Park Cryptids sequel.

Now to just hope the new fonts I pick don’t trigger a migraine before I get used to them lolsob 3/3
clmccollum.bsky.social
I’ve switched fonts to edit for YEARS as it helps me get some distance between me and the story between drafts, but it just never occurred to me to START the process that way to help keep the vibes of each book clear in my head. Worth a try! 2/
clmccollum.bsky.social
Was reading Susan Dennard’s newsletter this morning about tricks for jumping between projects easily (since I am forever working on like 3 at a time), and I realized I use one of the tricks to EDIT but never thought to use it during the drafting phase: using different fonts for each project! 1/

Right??? It WENT there and was such a fabulous payoff to the first book and even first line of the first book. I basically read all of THE GOLDEN ENCLAVES like this: 🤯🤯🤯 lol

Well, I’ve officially added a new book (or well trilogy) to my top 10 fave books of all time. The Scholomance series really is just THAT good. Naomi Novik stuck the landing better than I think any other trilogy I’ve ever read - or at least in a long LONG time. *swoons in writer admiration* #booksky

A watercolor painting of a goddess with celestial moon and sun themes with a blue and gold color palette. She represents the sapphire birthstone with the morning glory birth flower for September. The painting takes great influence from Mucha’s Art Nouveau style. This painting is 10x20 inches, watercolor and ink with 22k gold accents. The Lady of September painting created in the Art Nouveau style framed in muted gold and framed on a minimal white stucco wall. The painting hangs above a desk with a gold plate and plants on the top.
