Nerding out about Indigenous community planning these days. Still big on fighting fossil fuel extraction, protecting nature, defending Indigenous rights and building communities that don't pollute.

Something this book really drilled home (scuse the pun) is that we're not stalled out on climate because scientists didn't model hard enough or campaigners didn't come up with the perfect message, but because the world's most powerful spent gazillions to sabotage action.

Massive escalation at the Portland ICE facility. Worst I’ve ever seen. More pepper balls than I can count. Teargas in the middle of crowd. Violent arrests. Some type of either noise or rubber bullet shotgun fired into the air then later aimed at protesters chests/heads at near point blank range.

My publisher’s been very patient. I’m not doing everything I said I’d do to promote this book (out in a few weeks) because I’m an organizer in a city under federal attack. My days are full and emotionally exhausting. Any help getting the word out means a lot. It's a book people need right now.

This country is such a one trick pony sometimes. You cannot tell me that nobody has a better idea than building pipelines during a climate crisis and energy transition 🤦

Two of the most common climate misconceptions I see, even among knowledgeable folks, are that (1) most people aren't worried about climate change, and (2) if they were, they'd act.

Not true! Data show (1) most people are worried, but (2) they won’t act if they don’t know what to do-and most don’t.

This is a breathtaking abuse of the law and power by the President of the United States.

America is on the brink of martial law.

Do not be silent.
This evening, President Trump is ordering 400 members of the Texas National Guard for deployments to Illinois, Oregon, and other locations within the United States. No officials from the federal government called me directly to discuss or coordinate.

The main reason climate policy has failed is that it's opposed by an international coalition of fossil fuel incumbents, authoritarian governments, & oligarch-owned media.

That's it. It's the people who killed it who are responsible for killing it! Not the people who supported it! FFS.
To be clear, the First Nations and non-Indigenous communities on the North Coast have been crystal clear that this pipeline proposal is a non-starter. Danielle Smith ignoring them and putting public money behind this is classic colonial fuckery. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
