If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

Billionaire-owned social media platforms have incentivised the mass spreading of incendiary bad-faith communications and political lies on a vast, society-rupturing scale.

We've normalised this madness. But it doesn't have to be like this.

I've subscribed to @bylinetimes.bsky.social, as they were one of the only orgs to follow the money trail behind Trump's attack on the BBC. Thank you @nafeez.bsky.social

Astonishing to see people fussing over this as if it's just another bit of internal BBC navel gazing and not the senile emperor of a dying global hegemon enforcing fealty from one of its most loyal satrapies.
Exactly, so the BBC didn't need to shoot themselves in the reputation by editing it that way. But they did, and here we are

My guess is that a right wing Director General of the BBC resigning for not being right wing enough is probably bad.

Tim Davie's resignation is largely due to "crybullying" foreign billionaires. Billionaires want unchecked power - which means they will not tolerate even a hint of criticism. www.usefulideasproject.com/p/political-... #bbc

I always get drawn back to Al Gore telling voters that he’d only raise taxes on the top 1% and then after the election a poll showed that something like 20% of voters thought they were in the top 1% and another 20% thought they would be in the next five years. Just a total tragic disconnect.
Maaaaan, this. So much this. Every time there's any kind of actual in-depth survey we find that the American people are *abysmally* ignorant about even the most basic political facts, but the pundit class just immediately forgets & proceeds with political analysis based on subtle policy differences.
Feels like so many of our convos are revolving about how voters respond to what politicians are doing, or what parties’ positions on issues are, without much actual empirical sense of what they actually know about those topics.

British media keen to persuade us that charging the owners of a £3million house an extra £10,000 in "mansion tax" every year is a "fantasy" because wealthy people don't like to pay tax, or something.
