ok i lied--took a peek on that article--and i gotta add after pouring hours for my silly MA thesis:
bruh, you think race is the only criterion? what about class?
bc ultimately, then and now, both play crucial roles in determining who "makes it" and who doesn't, in the social status elevation

been thinking about sight-reading--after students ask: how do i get better at SR??--& made a rough schema
1. obv gotta get gud at reading notations
2. need to discern patterns quickly + "encyclopedia" of effective positions (scales, arpeggios)

last sunday, i helped my church folx making stars in prep for epiphany
ended up chatting with 2 older folks:
- person A has some thumb issues that affected them when playing piano, so i suggested not curving the thumb at all and adjusted the distance between fingers 1 & 2
ended up chatting with 2 older folks:

i have no one to blame but myself for making 13 students do IAs and miscalculated the time needed for each IA...
before i knew it i spent 10-1:30 on 13 IAs alone with more IAs this afternoon

it is challenging (!) to achieve fully smooshed/no voicing whatsoever on those tone clusters, complete with shift & absolute piano dynamic
(in conclusion: I’d be more gracious when I grade their final IAs this week)

I have no qualms to spend small sum IRL, eg buying stickers, drinks, or stationeries, but I feel great hesitancy—to the point of aversion—to do digital microtransactions.
Do yall have this quandary too?
I fear that doing 1 micro would open a dangerous flood gate, one I can’t control or stop.
