Oh god. I once accidentally wished a cashier "guten Lutsch" instead of "guten Rutsch". I feel your pain.

Ha. I would have used das Babysitter in German, but I guess there's very much a difference in meaning for the two things. Babysitter is normally very temporary (i.e. whilst you go out) whilst childminder (Tagesmutter) is a little more regular I guess!

(There's also a privilege element involved with Bürste btw. Were I still doing my stockroom job as a teenager I suspect this is a word I'd have learnt on the first day.)
chrisward.de
Please take note of this if you haven't learnt a language because you see other people speaking and think "damn they're fluent, I could never get to that level":

Those people probably just checked Duden for "windscreen wiper".

One thing still weird to me is I have citizenship level German but still get surprised at the basic words I've not learnt yet.

The most recent one: brush (Bürste).

My reasoning I think is that a brush is obviously and visibly a brush in the store (i.e. I don't need to check labels to see that).

The S Bahn was fucked this morning. It's fucked this evening. And the tram I had to walk a distance to catch was cancelled after 2 stops.

I'm so delighted though that the CDU wants to spend €400m on ticket barriers. That's definitely the transport priority. 👍🤡

In which case my apologies. I only gleaned what I could from the article. That's a real shame. :(

And yes you're right about the ghosting. MPs offices are inundated but this shouldn't have slipped through the net.
chrisward.de
Only if the doctor appointments exist. And the office has zero authority - it carries the implicit pressure of "they could raise this in parliament publicly" but that's about it.

However, on reflection, the MP should have made expectations clearer. And a shame it was a Lib Dem. :(

No I know exactly what it means. :P

Ok ok hear me out ...

This is simply the EU enforcing its existing border controls by means of a new system, not a "threat to throw out second home owners". Again Brexiters believe that the UK should have border controls as regards the EU, but not the other way around.

Entirely unsurprising that the Holiday Villa 'Ndrangheta have found politcal allies at last in the shape of Reform UK.

Reform really do hypocrisy very well.

(Ofc if it's a Tory MP then they've got plenty to answer for on trans issues, but the article doesn't go any further on it)
chrisward.de
I'm not entirely sure the MP has done wrong? If it's a Surrey MP, they are all opposition MPs with no influence on the puberty blockers stuff from Streeting, nor on mental health provisions. I know a lot try to help in these cases, but what can they feasibly do?

I see the guy who railed against flexible working for everyone else has taken up a further job with US tech companies whilst he's supposed to be a Member of Parliament.

That's before we get to the advice he is selling and how utterly dodgy it all looks.

“I’ll declare war on you if you don’t give me the peace prize” is an incredible bit

If I were the Nobel Prize Committee I'd give it to Biden.

He doesn't deserve it of course, and I can't stand the man. But it would also be really really really funny.
