Striking in this debate hosted by @krishgm.bsky.social how many people in the comments are saying that a wealth tax at this point is so obvious.

Is it any surprise that the Labour Governments response is to continually try and take swipes at the Green Party?

Fair enough.

You're a 'journalist' or news organisation that's salivating over the prospect of a Putin-supporting, racist Farage regime.

Give them all the disproportionate coverage you want @lbc.co.uk but please don't tell us they're MPs when they're nothing of the kind.

The country wants a wealth tax on assets.

They're panicking because "won't the rich just leave" has been utterly debunked.

They've got no actual argument.

The UK, where the day after a decision to take half a million children out of poverty, the media & political world has been full of sneering at those same children & their families, labelling them as ‘Benefits Street’, while the same people are moaning about a tax on £2m mansions. Shameful stuff.

What we're seeing with all this new data is that the Brexit damage is only getting worse as time goes on. Companies aren't "adjusting". They're either leaving, downscaling or going under. From manufacturing to services to culture to farming & fishing, the decline is snowballing rhe longer we're out.
New analysis by the politically neutral House of Commons library says that Brexit:

- cost the average Briton between £2,700 and £3,700

- lost the Treasury up to £90bn a year tax revenue.

Rachel Reeves budget options could have been very different!

The number of British citizens emigrating hasn’t increased, btw. Outward migration is up, but the increase is mostly non-EU migrants leaving the UK.

The methodology counting emigration of British citizens changed in 2021, which increased the number, and it’s been pretty much flat ever since…

The Welfare we spend too much on is billionaires.

Now a person working in London 40 hours a week earning the Minimum Wage £28,392 a year pays 12.4% tax on their total wage.

12,590/28,392*0.28

Yet nearly 25% of people earning £8m or more in the UK pay less than 1% tax.

But bear this in mind - King Charles won't pay a penny on his many homes which are mostly worth far more than that.
