I’m 50. My mom’s rural farmhouse got electricity 4 months before she was born. She remembers getting a kitchen sink at 4 and a bathroom years later.

Our “leaders” grew up in a very different world. They don’t understand this one.

Time to boot them all to the curb.

My son just found out our state is cutting off access to gender-affirming care as of next month. Goodbye T.

Fuck the GOP. They’re the definition of evil. Fuck them all.

Yesterday, Maurene Comey, who prosecuted the Epstein case, was summarily fired from SDNY. Her letter to colleagues pulls no punches. "Fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to suppress independent thought."

I wrote the backstories for two Traveler 2e characters today.

And I wrecked a toilet so bad I broke the plunger. Like, the rubber cup thing split.

So you know, totally winning at life and stuff.

The Constitution disagrees. The Emoluments Clause, part of Article I, Section 9, Clause 8, bans office holders from taking ANY gifts from foreign countries. There is no mention of quid pro quo. That is because the Founding Fathers knew that even the *appearance* of corruption promotes corruption.

“No processed foods!” My ancestors lived on bread and beer. Later, whatever fruits and vegetables they could put in a jar and and whatever meat they could get salty enough to not rot.

We’ve been processing foods longer than we’ve had written words.

Sigh.
I just ran into someone doing the whole “don’t eat a thing if your great-grandparents wouldn’t recognize it as food” and I’m begging people to know a little food history and understand how far back you have to go to find food without additives.

I’m not internet famous.
But the bot accounts love me!
(Seriously, why are there so many obviously non-human accounts and why do they follow lil ole me?)

Why, no, you shouldn't have to have your 'papers' on yourself at all times or face extraordinary rendition to a foreign country, actually

"The left went too far" in contemporary U.S. politics is almost always a lie and a very convenient way to rationalize moral failure. For example, "MeToo went too far" replaces "I do not care about sexual violence or its victims and I don't want to have to even feel bad about that"

Marco Rubio just announced 10 more people were sent to be imprisoned in CECOT. They were flown there from Gitmo to be imprisoned potentially for life based not on any crime for which they were convicted, but on unproven allegations of gang membership with no due process.

This is not lawful.

Some personal news: the Department of Homeland Security has given me, an immigration lawyer born in Newton, Massachusetts, seven days to leave the U.S. Does anyone know if you can get Italian citizenship through great-grandparents?

A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.

if we want to rebuild american institutions and earn back the world’s trust after this we cannot settle for half-measures. lots of people need to go prison. lots more need to be permanently stripped of wealth and power.

It’s a recalibration of economic control.

Oligarchs don’t live paycheck to paycheck. They have the capital to buy market dips and recoup faster, acquiring more assets at fire sale prices along the way.

When the dust finally settles, they will own more.

The rest of us will own less. A lot less.

I remember growing up on stories of food shortages, scarcity, secret police, having to always be prepared to “show your papers,”gov surveillance, and other scary tales in USSR.

I’m so glad we took all of that and made it reality here and now.
