About the same time the NYT sat on a scoop tying Trump to Epstein, Maggie Haberman was downright giddy (y'all) about NYT promoting an anti-Hillary Clinton book.

This is early Dec 2015; the Iowa Caucuses were on Feb 1. Trump had been leading most polls, but the outcome was:
Cruz 28%
Trump 24%
Rubio 23%
We can't know, but if Rubio beats Trump for 2nd...There's a very good chance that Trump loses the nomination.

We've had nonstop op-eds declaring that "Americans have spoken" and demanding Democratic capitulation to the right despite the right's agenda being wildly unpopular.
This has gotten lost: Abigail Spanberger won big after vowing to RESCIND Glenn Youngkin's executive order directing local cooperation with ICE and voting AGAINST the anti-immigrant Laken Riley Act. Yet she gained bigly with working class.

Media, business, politics, you name it -- this country is led by weak, feckless cowards. Our elite, our best & brightest, our leaders, are fucking pathetic. That's the problem. One more bit of evidence isn't going to change that. Feh.

We're all waiting. For what exactly? For a leaked memo that says "TRUMP DID IT"? God himself to descend & verify it?

He participated in the trafficking & rape of little girls. We know it. No one has done shit. There's no real reason to think anyone will do shit if we know more.

The people & institutions who might have some ability to impose consequences on Trump -- even if only political consequences -- are fucking cowards. They could just impose the consequences now, but they don't want to, even though, as I said, it's all already quite clear. So they're waiting.

This Trump/Epstein stuff is so typical of a modern political "scandal," in that ... we know he did it. He knows he did it. Everyone knows he did it & everyone knows that everyone knows he did it. There is zero "did he do it?" involved here. The whole thing is about ... what, exactly?

I'd just like to point out that we spent an entire shipment of air defense interceptors' worth of money on new signs for a name change that isn't even legally the name of the DoD.

Progressives like AOC were intensely criticized for helping tank Amazon’s proposed HQ2, which is the land these apartments will be built on.

HQ2 in Virginia has been a total bust and Amazon is planning to replace much of its workforce with robots.

Once again, progressives were right — just early.

Frankly I think it’s a major problem that it’s difficult to turn on the tv or read a newspaper and find hard left opinions. Perhaps if more people had heard an argument for open borders we wouldn’t currently have the fucking gestapo hunting down people in the streets and sending them to be tortured

This headline is journalistic malpractice. This isn't Epstein "alleging" that Trump knew. This is Epstein and Maxwell discussing - in 2011, long before Trump had political salience - how the FACT that Trump knew might play out

Both of them took as a given that this was a fact in a private email

Our leading news organizations turned a cache of ultimately-innocuous emails into a scandal-coded weeklong series of front page stories leading into the 2016 election. If they do not cover the "emails from notorious pedophile implication the President" emails with the same fervor, it's curious!

i mean c’mon. the president’s best friend was the most notorious pedo in the country’s history who ran a massive child trafficking ring. every bit of circumstantial evidence we have says that trump was a participant. if this were a criminal trial we’d have enough evidence to compel a plea deal.

Yes! This is the irony: their lack of understanding of politics that led to them to making a bad deal is also what prevents them from spinning the bad deal as good.

They can't tell what a good deal entails or what good comms strategy around the deal entails because they don't get politics at all.

This is great in theory. It's wildly implausible in practice.

People need to realize that we have to infiltrate the Democratic party and change it from the inside, not keep hopelessly wishing it gets burnt down. Because there's zero, ZERO!, infrastructure in place to set up a new party.
In a functional party system, this kind of capitulation in the face of authoritarianism could mean the end of the Democratic Party.

In our system, it could mean the end of the two party system. Neither party can represent the pro-democracy majority. It's time for something new.
