A lot of culturally Christian atheists left their beliefs but held onto their hegemony... and they don't understand why a lot of people in progressive spaces don't trust them. I say this as an atheist, but one of the things I hate about evangelical anti-theists is that they don't understand that a lot of what you think of as 'religion' isn't just "beliefs", it's culture, it's heritage, it's art, it's literature. And you can't get rid of it without committing genocide.

I understand that a lot of folks have been misled by fear-mongering and powerful regressive voices but it’s still astonishing to me that so many have fallen for the idea that oppressively policing other people’s gender identity and expression could in any way be part of an enlightened future.

How US citizens aren't just opening fire on their own politicians is amazing to me. They could end poverty in a heartbeat. They could house every US citizen. This is a choice by the US government, both parties. US citizens would be justified in retaliation.
