This is exactly the sort of thing that is going to require people to go to jail for a very long time if we are to avoid this ever happening again. We're going to be told we need to move on. We've been told that every time since ~1865. Which is why the crises keep happening.

BREAKING: With a contempt inquiry looming, DOJ has now named DHS Secretary Kristi Noem as the Trump official who approved transferring hundreds of people to a notorious Salvadoran megaprison, despite a federal judge’s order forbidding the removals.

The amount of illegal this is is a lot.
SCOOP—In August, nearly 200 current/former FEMA staffers published the Katrina Declaration, a whistleblower letter detailing all the dangers posed by current leadership.

All current employees were put on indefinite leave, and now I've learned one has been fired in violation of federal protections:
FEMA employee terminated for signing whistleblower letter
It appears to be a major violation of federal whistleblower protections and constitutional rights.

If you want to live under a king, you ultimately wish to be a slave to that person’s commands.

If you want to live under a democracy, you wish to be free to do anything that’s allowed under the law.

The people who want authoritarianism don’t feel confident enough to live with real freedom.

Doug Ford *falsely claiming* he has the power to audit his enemies when he doesn’t actually have that power is still a news story

But it’s kind of a different story than one uncritically accepting the premise that the Premier of Ontario can order the federal government to audit his enemies
