i'm into Level Up: Advanced 5e and Tales of the Valiant

A5e is my preferred game at the moment, though i'm always exploring others as well.

ToV is what i have more friends actually playing. also, it's quite a bit easier to build characters for one shots with it.

yeah that's a bit broader, but even at that, within the parts of the community we're in, being an outcast based on heritage is usually setting-/game-specific if it's there at all. Forgotten Realms not so much as the "generic". maybe dhampir or changeling might still carry some
D&D is pretty "for the queers" at this point, and kinda our whole deal is knocking the transgression out of trans and allowing people to just be how they want (while not harming others)

so more transgressive would be playing a capitalist pig or a cop, nothing to do with your species
ok, this seems like perhaps "transgressive" is maybe not meaning the same thing to folks.

playing a tiefling isn't transgressive in my meaning either, but neither is just yaknow, being bisexual and partaking in other bi stereotypes

Just to remind people #Free5e is at cost printing, doesn't see a penny go to Hasbro and is totally AI free. 😀

Built from the very best parts and practices in 5e dnd and Dungeons and Dragons.

Have to say, I'm a bit disappointed in the TTRPG community for not rallying behind #Free5e more than it has... So many "influencers" and DnDtubers who get paid in the 5e ecosystem... And, yet, so few seem to acknowledge that Free5e will help their bottom line. So few who helped put the word out. Ugh
we had some ideas along those lines! conceptually we were looking at "passive" vs "active" magic users rather than martial vs magic. it really helps make "i swing my sword at [monster where that clearly wouldn't do anything]" actually work

but we really haven't seen it done well in 5e-ites yet
we backed ToV and have the PG, MV, and GMG, and honestly it was a regretted purchase. the GMG has useful stuff in it, but ToV is a lot of sideways changes without enough improvements to be worth the loss of compatibility.
...also a *lot* of typos/editing mistakes
KP's ToV was pretty disappointing in this area. the main thing they added is weapon options, but those are quite limited and rarely worth trading an attack or bonus action for (there's more bonus actions, so it's a rarer resource)
imo, A5e is the answer for treating martials the best of the 5e-ites. all classes get more non-combat options, and martials get combat maneuvers that give options beyond just "attack"
then ToB3 and probably 2 (don't have it) on top for extras. but MoMe has much more info, better encounter balancing tools, and is available digitally for free (above table)
we have and use ToB3, great for an extra splash of fun stuff. but we're not really a fan of the ToV monster blocks. they simplified them too much. imo the only thing the MV has going for it is really good art... and that's still haunted by a bad gender bias 🙄

nah, A5e MoMe is the way to go
something that didn't make it into those posts is that early on KP said the *game* (implying the whole game, there was no talk of the SRD-like BFR yet) would be open licensed. and it's not. only BFR is, and it's not a complete game nor getting any updates. and the site sucks.
the GMG is a worthwhile book, better than the DMG. but otherwise, yeah... we backed at the LE level and regretfully don't intend to run it again. fully switched focus to A5e.

it's a shame because Celeste is really cool too, but KP held back and bait and switched
ToV quality is overall about the same as ToH, maybe slightly better. more typos/editing mistakes, fewer unreasonable spells. the balance is pretty good, but the player options aren't as fun
basically, it's not a negative trait, but it's not really a positive trait either.
its weird that a strong sense of justice is regarded as a negative symptom, but its also important to note that that phrase doesn't refer to absolute justice, but more like perceived fairness and rigidity. aka, sticking hard to rules that are clearly wrong for the sake of "justice" as well

Okay, here's the links for the better than #D&D but still D&D #TTRPG. Stop paying wizards, pay these people. Kicking off with #A5E.

Great! i'll pm you with some info!
specifically using a PDF sheet isn't actually important, it's the manual management
Looking for folks who play #LevelUp: #A5e and who usually manage their character manually in text, document, or other non-builder/non-VTT form, and use PDF character sheets you fill by hand.

I have tool ready for testing but not public release! Would you like to try it?
