Old news, still true:
The new Android ≠ Good

#google
@newsfromgoogle.bsky.social

For example,
- Cropping in Photos app now with less functionality and worse UI
- Mobile phone autorotate = yes please. Autorotate in Phone app (i.e., the one you use to call ppl) = No thank you.

They broke #Android

It seems, mostly, it can be likened to "privity of contract"… i.e., Akin to ~ If I have a contract with you and a separate contract with a 3rd party… Then, 3p can't use either to sue YOU for breach of contract… Not even if the contracts contemplate / cross-reference contributions under each other.*
To be clear, Magical Industrial Revolution is also (pictured above and) absolutely beautiful and awesome... I just didn't receive it today! :)
Just received a physical copy of this *absolutely beautiful* book: #MonsterOverhaul by Skerples. Awesome book and #ComposeDreamGames in Canada was super helpful. Kudos.

"AI Could Have Written This…"

AI shaming includes disparaging someone's work & blaming them for alleged use of AI, with attendant harm to their reputation. The academic paper's author posits anxious workers may level such slurs to maintain solidarity and limit work boundaries.

AI Could Have Written This: Birth of a Classist Slur in Knowledge Work

Don't start the week with a to-do list. Start on Tuesday.
Maybe some of its art… But certainly some of its ideas, and those that have built upon them since.

For example, Slugblaster's 'Kinetic Deck' and 'Negafriction Sword' both involve 4D <–> 3D <–> 2D game mechanics.

Maybe add in a dose of Paper Mario and we're cooking with gas… !
The ALT text on my above image was incorrect. The gem tokens are in the third section of the tray, with the medium monster and trap tokens.
Here's my self-diagnosed OCD at work 🤣

The bags pictured are supplemental ones I'm using.

I saved the other 4 bags, which came with the set, as intended for the PCs cards and tokens (not pictured).
I expect, we'll see no savior arise to solve the world's problems, and I'll soon need to get our brightest 'tube technologists' working on this most dire emergency.
Ideally, some evil genius figured out how to store all the tokens in the tray that's provided inside the starter set.

In this dream world of pure order, the monster tokens are organized alphabetically (for ready finding on the fly) and everything still fits nicely inside the box.

Too much to ask?
Or, maybe I shouldn't store them in the box?

(Maybe I get separate pouches for the gold coin and gem tokens? Maybe I get a mini first aid kit for the HP tokens? 🤣 I dunno!)

Curious what other ppl might've done.
Thank you for this video. Have you seen any best practices, in convention play or elsewhere, for how to store the set's tokens in the box after they're all punched out?

…iirc, the quick start guide says, something like, 'keep like tokens together'… ?
Literally, the matter speaks for itself.

Whether or not one presently views it as nonsense.

Many opposing views just differ in what order to fix things.

Their difference speaks as one anyway.

... So, maybe you're rolling to free yourself from bummers, but if you crap out then you gotta take a buttload of them. // But, I dunno, have no inside knowledge, and am going off about 11 words, in 2 phrases, and one 10 second video clip, with no sound. So, I'm just guessing 🤣

✌️
I think, "press your luck" games are ones, like Farkle, where players can continue rolling dice for better game outcomes, with the risk of worse ones if they press their luck and fail to score on a roll. // Then, I think, the game also overlays a "leave your bummers behind" game mechanic...

Ok, follow-up with you in about a week, if I haven't heard back from you by then... Unless, that's too soon?
Agreed. One of the great things about ttrpg systems is, for me, their apparent self-awareness in how they loosely model an emergent game world…

Now, if only "real" world politics, economics, sociology, psychology, news, and science, et al. could regularly remember as much.

Stay thirsty, my friends
What I love most about rpgs is that it's hard, maybe impossible, to remove the sincerity.

Designers can keep one foot outside, hide behind sarcasm, or try to professionalize or optimize it as something else—but it will always be playing pretend.

And I like the work that knows that's a feature.

i gotta admit, the #Daggerheart core book and card set are high quality and quite beautiful.
[Check the ALT.]
Also, love the maths of two dodecahedrons with binomial distributions.
And, it might be nice to hold a character as a hand.
Will I play this game? Unlikely.
Would I? You bet.
