This is a blue bottle tree in a yard in Frankfort (KY). These are supposed to trap and destroy evil spirits according to southern US folklore. Hopefully it’s working OK.

The magic of Catalpa Road in Lexington (KY) in early November. Lined with gingko trees, the leaves turn a bright yellow this time of year here. Gingkos were brought to Kentucky by Henry Clay, whose estate is nearby.

This is a massive federal prison in western Lexington. It was once the Federal Narcotic Center for the eastern part of the U.S. I was taught Pharmacology by some of the researchers here when I was in medical school. They knew their drugs.
