so.. we need to keep making it too hard for them to do stupid/bad things.

The province doesn't seem to like the public calling Andy on his lies. So now we can't do that any more.
cgeroux.bsky.social
Yeah when ever I hear "friends of..." I immediately get a bad opinion of the group.

Specifically, Tim Houston.

Our provincial government.

You forgot destroying all future generation's climate.

In a related bit of news, my dog walker canceled her dog walk yesterday, the reason? Congestion was too bad and she couldn't pick up the dogs.

Removing the bridge toll is is effectively removing a bit of congestion pricing. The result? More congestion. NYC recently implemented a congestion price, found traffic to improve dramatically. We are doing the opposite, and not surprisingly congestion is worse.

“buried in the modelling results” of the LinkNS report is “that even if the government pulled off its fantasy plan, congestion would still get worse.”

“There is simply no plan to keep Halifax moving, but the premier would rather distract you with a bike lane drama to distract from his inaction.”
Deny Sullivan: Halifax bridge toll blunder: Houston’s election gimmick worsens gridlock
The promise to save drivers time is backfiring. The reason? Simple economics.

Do you ever wonder why we aren't making more progress on addressing the climate crisis? I sure do. One of the best places I have found to help me understand why things aren't moving faster is the Drilled podcast. Check it out.

Nice, haven't been listening in a while.. but there is a bunch of new great stuff there.. thanks for getting me to check back! Drilled is really great. The only why I can make sense of why we aren't addressing the climate crisis properly.

I am getting a bit tired of "we can't do anything the province will just overrule it" crap. Either what council are doing doesn't matter in which case what's the point, or what the council says matters, at least a little, in which case then stand up for what you think is right.

I hope they realize that "that one time in 2020" is still on going. COVID didn't magically disappear.

It always bothers me when people get excited about loosing winter. For me it is profoundly sad. I have so many happy childhood memories of the winter, and now we get so few days with snow on the ground.

I think the one at Windsor was set up poorly too but seems they adjusted it to match the LPI. Maybe they will do that there too?

I am a little surprised how negative Rockingham area is.
cgeroux.bsky.social
Ok... it changed in the direction I was expecting, but maybe not as much as I was expecting? Though then again, it could be because the geographic areas of the regions are so different it makes it harder to compare. I need to count numbers of areas and try to ignore the size of the area.

I am curious about not just on a per housing unit basis, but also in an absolute sense. It would be interesting to also see a plot that multiplies this value per unit by total number of housing units in each region too.

True different people are bothered by sounds in different ways.
cgeroux.bsky.social
In my city louder noises, like construction, garbage trucks, outdoor music, are far less frequent, and often only occurring in some places some of the time. Other omnipresent noises heating/air conditioning are much quieter. Cars however, are always present. Noon, 10pm, doesn't matter always there.

I live in a small city, with beautiful tree lined streets, a park one house away, with a large wooded area. But while trying to enjoy the peace in my park, I still hear the thunderous noise of hundreds of cars. If only there were fewer cars the city would be as peaceful as the country.

If we decided as a society to completely ignore all the nasty things people are saying about other people would they stop saying those things? In other words is all this hate and othering just about getting attention?

Turns out having a plan before you start building and not changing your mind after you start makes things cheaper to build 😜.
